How to size a trailer to haul a JD 3320 tractor ?

There is nothing more miserable to be white knuckling it or having a car or truck with not enough power to cruise with because of the rear end ratio or the lack of horsepower.. Would it be possible to find a trailer with a similar loaded weight just to try it out before you buy the trailer. It sounds like you are on the edge or over the limit.

I think the first question would be, what exactly are you hauling and how much does it weigh? I know you said its a 3320, now you need to tell us if it has any implements, like a loader or backhoe. Lets start there and we can figure out for sure whether or not your truck can haul it, and if it can, what size trailer you would need.

Something else to consider; will your insurance cover any damage to it as you are in the process of your volunteer work, and if you are willing to take the risk if it is not. My insurance only covers on my property and to the dealer, but running around and doing side jobs with it is a different story.

I ended up renting a 16 foot dual axle trailer from a local rental place. . Short story is I got the tractor over to the place, completed the volunteer work and returned it back to my place. Everyone lived through the experience. The 16 foot trailer was just big enough. The truck towed the trailer and the tractor with me and my daughter in it. Needless to say we took it slow (40 mph or less). I'm noth going to use chains again for the tie downs (if there is a next time). I'll use ratcheted straps instead. Other than that everything went fine. Good thing it was only 7 miles and there are no real hills in Florida.

7 miles. Lol. I drive my tractor that far before I take thr hour to hitch up, load up, chain down, ect. I would be half way done with the work before I could get there with the trailer.

This is coming from a guy with two capable trucks and trailers.

I drive my tractor 13 miles one way to the dealer now and then and it takes about 45 minutes if I recall. The first trip seemed to take forever but after a couple times there is nothing to it. I just pick a nice sunny day, turn the flashers on and put it in high gear and rip it to er' and enjoy the scenery. But it is a 2 lane state highway and a few back roads and not a 4 laner.
