I drive in my yard all the time, people park in my yard. Never had a rut. Ive had large semi truck drive scross my lawn with no ruts. Had a full concrete truck not leave ruts.
Must be pretty wet or soft for a car to leave ruts. I have a hard time understanding why it's a problem if they turn in the driveway.
My wife recently got lost, turned around by pullung into a paved driveway. She said an old guy ran out screaming at her for turning in his driveway. It's stupid, there's no harm. With road setbacks, she was probably still on the ROW and not on his property to start with.
Some are different, like here we actually have to pay for the curb and own it. We own the bridge to access our property as well , the city wont touch it... yet there are neighbors that didn't like the standing water on the road so they busted out a chunk to let the water drain to the creek and now it is washing out the dirt under the pavement. I don't allow people to turn around on my bridge either since there are so many wide driveways around here my bridge is narrow and it is known to the locals as "The Red Bridge" where kids would meet to deal drugs and do their deeds... that has stopped now after a year of efforts running them off. People would come looking into our windows at 1-3am, walk by the garage and our house is 150' away from any roadway... what ticked me off was the disrespect when Id tell them this is private property and theyd respond with "FU" ! Nope, game over ! There is a road that dead ends behind us and people would drive through the yard and get to it barely, I had to put up a fence to stop that as theyd go both ways and there is no paved road, not even gravel, theyd just make their own path. Since this stopped I got that section of the yard looking really nice now, no more ruts, no mud... I understand if someone is lost or confused, unfamiliar with an area... but those who constantly violate someones property is a no-no.
