How to test for diesel

To be sure, taste it thats what I do.

My solution is simple. Yellow can for diesel, red can for gasoline. Works every time.

Sure, and I have a yellow can for diesel. I just wasn't convinced that when I filled it up I had actually used the diesel pump.

I have bought diesel at a gas station a couple of times when the bulk plant was closed and it was not dyed. The farm diesel is red.

But the stuff was the same thing probably at both places.
