Yup, just be sure you understand the "wet torque" info on the Surplus site and you're good to go... Steve

In all honesty, I've never had an ORB fitting leak and always just tightened til it "feels right", but I've been doing this kind of stuff for 60 years, so my "feels right" tends to be fairly well calibrated

Elbow clicks and you know it's right. ;)

Good one Brian; also, besides stayin' healthy, there's ANOTHER reason I maintain my weight right at 200# - 'cause the crowd cylinder on my old 580B still needs rebuilt; the piston nut on that one torques to 1000-1200#, and I have a 6' cheater bar :D ... Steve (keeps the math simple)

For those who have never torqued something like this. You will need a crowfoot socket either open end or flare nut type. So, have that before you start. HF has good SAE and metric sets.

" You will need a crowfoot socket"

good catch Ron; Also, unless you choose a torque setting that is NOT at the maximum of suggested range, you would need to connect the torque wrench to the crowfoot AT RIGHT ANGLES so you don't inadvertently add length to the wrench's handle and end up tightening to a higher torque than intended.

The simplest "close enough" method would be to just have the crowfoot sticking straight out from the end of the torque wrench, then setting the wrench for near the middle of the suggested range. that way the REAL torque would be close to the UPPER end of suggested range.

Sorry, Gergory; just when you thought it was safe to "just do it" ... Steve

Flip side, I would not bother with torque on a small item like that. More bother than what it is worth. I have the crow feet though, both OE and FN types SAE and Metric.

Since I don't own a torque wrench or crows foot (being the carpenter that I am), how about I go 30lb with a fish scale on my 1 1/4" open end wrench? :)

Depends on how long your wrench is.

Is the torque 1.75 grunts or a full 2 grunts?

ok, so what is the torque for 1.06薄12 ORB?
I already told you 34lb ft. The 1.06" is the thread diameter of a -12 SAE or ORB fitting. Threads are 1 1/16-12 threads per inch. The -12 equals 12/16s OR 3/4" which is the hose or tube size.
