Cut out bottom with can opener, run over can with tractor to flatten then cut in half with tin snips. Problem solved!

I did't want to cut below the rim. I wanted both end rims intact and then cut in the middle leaving two halves, each with one open end and one rimmed end.

Give it to a 12 yr old boy and let him do it!
