JD argument here...Neil you could save us the trouble though if you wouldn't post short degrading comments like your first one, it always leads to this and this is not what these boards are for. I appreciate your input at times but sometimes we could do without...Kubota makes a fine machine but these are Deere boards so lets stick to JD talk.
That being said there have been two main concerns with the Z820. Number one was the power issue, which has to do with the higher capacity deck/new transmission with higher ground speed/new vertical design. Secondly, the belts have been coming off the pulley system. This is the ONLY model in the whole line-up that is causing problems and we are seeing a lot of these issues here in the South, and some of our stores have already sold close to 100 of these machines.
Deere is looking into the issue, they have stopped shipment of the Z820's and added some different deck/hp combinations to the Z810/Z830...hope that clears things up.
gamble,
Funny you mention this. Our church just received a call today about a recall on the belts. I didn't take the call, but understand the dealer is coming out Thursday to install whatever the fix is.
But back to the 820/60" combo, in our application it works really well. Our teams have decreased from 8 to 4 and the time per unit to take care of the lawn has decreased to about an hour from nearly three with our previous set up. Needless to say, we're tickled green!
