How's The New Deere Commercial Zero Turns?

I am purchasing a 820A with 60' deck and was told by one JD salesman that the problem was that the lip on the original blades were too high , so it took alot of hp to throw the grass out the shute, so he said by going to a lesser lip on the ends of the blades it would prevent hp drain. I am still buying it on 7/14/08 and will have to see.......... I have had good luck with Deere........

I bought a JD 757 60" in 2005. It has been flawless. I am about to go mow with it now. I will have to see how many hours I have on it.

Guys! All these same questions about what is the problem with the lower number series JD 800 ztr's. If you want a clear and well developed story on it from problem description to problem resolutions, read the second message of this thread by Fred Cowell and go to the lawnsite thread he gave a link to. It's all there by actual owners. There are a lot of messages to read thru in the thread but if I was spending that kind of money on a new ztr, I'd find the time.

"Aloha,
I was doing some research on the 800 pro series for my coffee operations. Over at www.lawnsite.com there's a very long thread about the JD 800s being sluggish. Go take a read, it's full of commentaries from professional lawn care types.

I hope this helps,"

2005 JD 757 137.7 hours of today. It cut my mowing time in half from a JD 2210.

Well I lost my Exmark in a barn fire so I purchased a new Z830 w/60" deck. Overall I'm pleased with the mower, but I HATE the steering. It's too stiff and this makes it alot harder to trim and even mow straight lines. Someone on here has informed me there is a PIP kit available to solve this so I'm going to see. If not I'm going to check into more about switching the hydro fluid from regular Hy-Guard, to Low Viscosity. I Learned about this from the Lawnsite website. I Will keep you informed how it works out.

My local Deere dealer stopped carrying the Hustler line. Hmmmmm wonder why....was it they didn't like selling a better product along side the green ones.
2 of my neighbors have deers and admit there is no comparison in smoothness of operation, quality of cut, beefyness of frame and deck. And the kicker ....the 72" cut out the door was $7800.00.
I like their tractors but just can't get with their line of mowers especially when there are proven quality trouble free designs out there.

There are a lot of mowers out there. One of the reasons I bought my JD 757 is it looked like one heck of a mower AND i could get service for it. Now, I have not had any issues. I have put blades, filters, etc - standard stuff.

I don't need to buy something and not be able to get parts and service. That really changed the value proposition. Now, if the mower is a piece of junk in the first place, that is a different story.

I hope my 757 keeps trucking on for a very long time, which I think it will.

I don't know anything about Hustler, but 9/10 a Deere dealer drops somthing its from pressure from Deere. They are a very hostile company when it comes to working with their dealers and being sold along side their competitors. Its not at all unusual for them to give an "us or them" statement, or threaten to put in another L&G dealer unless you go exclusive. I'm not a Deere dealer, but we go to meetings with them all the time and thats always a topic.

Neil is correct in what he is saying but I have been on both sides of the fence and I understand why Deere does what they do. I am not saying I am 100% for it, we are loosing Scag in October because of it...but I can understand from their standpoint why they do it.
