They do make a 2596 cutter you may consider. Its a bit lighter, but still 50 HP requirement.
I still think you will be fine with either cutter on that 5240.
As others and myself have said, the requirement isnt really about power, otherwise the pull behind would need just as much. Its about tractor size and heft to handle the cutter.
The L5740 meets the 50HP requirement and is physically identical to your tractor.
The MX5800 meets the requirements and is physically smaller, lighter, and less 3PH lift capacity
A deere 4720 meets the requirements and is smaller with less lift
A deere 5045e is a 1000# heavier tractor and does not meet the requirements of 50hp.
Its not an exact science, and MFG's error on the side of caution. They dont want someone running a 3096 behind a B3200 and tearing up their tractor. With a 5240 and maybe needing some front weights you are going to be fine. Or even leave the loader on if your plan is doing custom mowing. The loader has saved me from running over lots of bad things by keeping it just a skim off the ground.
And if mowing for hire is your goal, consider the issues with trailering a tow-behind unit.
