I had been talking with my dealer about trading my 05 HPX for an 06. Pretty much decided not to. Got a message from my dealer saying Deere is changing the HPX. Said some of there people are going to an intro second week of August. No details. Thought I would post a note in case someone might be close to a purchase and this information pans out.

Please keep us informed as to what will be changed. I just got my 06 diesel HPX a couple months ago and love it! :)

The main change I wish they would make is to add power steering to the HPX. If they can put PS on a lawn tractor it seems like it could be done on the HPX. I have an '04 HPX Diesel and the only changes I would like is to have a locking front differential and power steering.

I've had my 06 Trail Gator for 2 months, and have mixed feelings about JD making some changes to the TG. Would be unhappy to have bought 6 months too early, but realistically it needs some updating.
See my previous post on things that it falls down on.

Regardless what the changes are I will be hanging on to my '04 HPX. Power steering would make it easier for the wife to drive however.

For 2007, John Deere is going to put power steering on the Gator. This will be the big announcement I think for the 2007 model year. I have not heard anything about powerplant changes.

Is this a guess or based upon some substantial info you have come across? I am within 2 months of ordering a 2006 gasoline HPX4x4 and will gladly wait an extra month or so if there are major chnages coming like power steering. I ordered a backhoe this month so the Gator will have to wait another couple months. Any upcoming changes on overall width, clutch enclosure, bench seat or roll bar?

Lewis,

No "guess". This is based on info from a solid source within the company. Of course, JD might change its mind, but the source I have says definitely coming. Supposedly they are doing a new products show next month in Nebraska (I believe) during which they are to show this change. Now I do not know when exactly this machine would be available, and I am sure it would cost more, but if cost is not an object I would wait. Please note: sometimes, like all of us, I am wrong. I do try to only mention information in responses that I feel solidly to be true, or that I have firm information are true. In short I would not respond to the initial question if I have no good information.

My sources are very solid as well. He would not have contacted me if he wasn't sure. He just didn't have any details. I sent him a message to see if there people were going to Nebraska for the intro by chance. He knows I was interested in an 06 diesel. I get a lot of complaints from riders on my 05 about diesel fumes. I tested the 06 and didn't notice the fumes as much with the Tier II diesel.

Power steering would be a nice addition and I would wait for that if it is annouced. Since the power steering would require a pump it would be nice if they could use that to power a cheaper or standard dump bed option.

It's been 2 weeks. Anyone have any updated info on the HPX4x4 getting power steering and/or power dump? I have seen a lot of posts complaining about the lack of a waterproof clutch enclosure. can you take one from a trail gator and add it to a regular HPX?

yes you can get the clutch enclosure for the hpx 4x4 it cost 195.00 dollars and about 2 hours to install. but well worth it.me and my son just installed one on my hpx4x4. you will need a 9/16 x18 bolt to remove the clutch other then that it's basic tools needed.

Now what about the diesel is there any difference ?

   / HPX change #13
what do you mean by diferense? if you mean putting a clutch enclosure on it yes there is a big diferense. the gas has and can be equiped with an enclosure but the diesel cannot. now the diesel has more power than the gas but hey i think my gas model has plenty of power. so what diferenses are you talkin about?

Yeah I was just wondering if you could put the enclosure on a diesel.... Was a vain attempt but maybe they will have one for the 07 that will fit ? *waits anxiously for JD to announce changes*
