KUBATO B7800
I have a B7800 with the HST trans (which I love). I use the unit to remove snow so I am doing a lot of back and forth movement. I have over 200 hrs. on the unit. Does anybody that has actual facts or actual experience on HOW LONG DO THESE TRANSMISSIONS LAST and besides changing the fluids is there any adjustments or preventive maintenance?

The HST in my Kubota B7100 showed no signs ill health at 3000 hours. :D

You should find some centering adjustments for the HST.:D

Do you have a FEL on the B7100? What kind of Hydraulic fluid did you use in the Trans? Final question, have you owned it since new?

I had the Kubota B7100 HST with FEL and MMM from new to 3000 hours at which time it was traded in for a used John Deere 4200 [ 900 hours] with FEL, MMM and backhoe.

I did jamb some roots up in the control mechanism of the HST that required some work on the centering system. My fault, not the tractor's.

The Tractor was worked hards. Approximately 1500 hours of the time was spent doing fell work. Wore out the cutting edge and bottom of the FEL. No problems rebuilding that portion.

The tractor was running nicely when traded.:D

One picture shows making a trench. The other shows an excavated turnaround area with some Piles of rock gathered while tilling.

I have seen that era HST go about 1200 hours under severe abuse on the original HST. And about 500-600 hrs after replacing the rotating groups. And by severe abuse I mean operated by very low wage under educated laborers that did not care about the equipment at all. Owner/operators don't seem to have many problems at all.

The earlier B7100-7200-1750 era HST's held up much better. I have rebuilt very few of those.

Well thanks a lot guys. I guess I don't have to be worrying to much for a while (at least another 2000hrs.)

BRIAN THANKS FOR THE INFO. WHAT DO YOU MEAN ABOUT ROTATING GROUPS?

The rotating groups are the cylinders with the pistons that make up the pump and motor part of the hydrostat. The originals seem to last longer than once you have been inside and replaced the parts.

I've seen many hydro's go longer then the rest of the tractor! I've also seen failures within a couple of thousand hours. Those that didn't last were because the filters and fluids were not changed not because of the work load.

There have been other threads here on TBN discussing HST reliability. The summary of those is the same as this thread....if you try and neglect reasonable PM completely, then you can break them, else, they never quit. I'm around 800 hrs, no problems:thumbsup:
