HST filter change question

/ HST filter change question #11
Finally got around to putting the new HST and hydraulic filters on the other day. I decided to give parking on a hillside a try. I swapped the HST filter first with only maybe a couple ounces of spillage, most of which came out of the old filter I think. The other side didn't go quite as well. Lost 2-3 quarts. No big deal though. Sure glad I changed the hydraulic filter though, look at all those metal filings stuck on the magnet.
Pretty much the same experience I had with my L3240.The metal filings were about the same as on your magnet but nothing like what came out at the fluid and filter change,400 hours I believe. The bottom of the 5 gallon bucket that I drained the fluid into was pretty much covered with metal bits and shavings. It was a lot more than I expected but is apparently normal.I guess this is why the fluid change is important,to flush this crap out of the tractor.I am just about to the 800 hour mark and will be changing all six filters that the tractor has.I am going to try the shop vac trick on the hydro filters and see if it works, hopefully it will.
