Thats one thing nice about the Unverferth wheel extensions is they bolt onto you hub, then you use your original wheel bolts to mount the wheel to the extensions. Only bad part is price.

ok,
here are pictures of front and rear spacers i had
shipped in from fred at wheeladapter.
they look pretty good, and will work well
for my customer that doesn't want to turn his
front wheels around, and other customers
that want tire chains on the rear R-4 tread.

i don't have pricing yet,, so i can't give that.
but i don't think they are cheap...

they do seem very well done...

Fred knows his stuff, this guy used to drive Jet -powered Funny cars - was he brave, and he did it without using meth or some other bravery enhancement (body damaging) drug!

Yeah, as i said on another thread, I will try out the wide setting on my tractor first and if that is not enough. i will look at getting those hub extensions much, much, more seriously:cool:

I had the suspicion that I might find a better price, so I asked the vendor what is the list price for those spaces - $272 each, well I am now calling arounf to see if I can get anywhere near that price delivered to my humble abode.

Hey irwin, safety:eek: is always a good issue to override any sanity concerns:rolleyes:

Irwin, I just figured that the $700 for the Unverferth wheel extensions was a lot cheaper that $25,000 on its side or worse. My wife agreed.

dirtworksequip, Yes, that is my point if I can't get the lower price. I will be able to try out the wide setting on the wheels and see if that is good enough. Plus I am looking at some different tires and wheels (wider), and that also will help.

I am definitely concerned and want to avoid the or worse!

I reversed my wheels on my 4310 yesterday to add clearance for chains and also to gain some additional stability on the hill. The rears gained roughly an inch to an inch and a quarter on each side - not much but every bit helps I guess. The front wheels gained several inches - eyeballing it I'd guess 3-4. on each side. So as some have said, reversing the rears doesn't gain a lot but it is a noticeable difference driving, especially with having swapped the front wheels. I took it up on the hill after doing the job and I felt a lot more comfortable traversing the slope when turning, and it was not just my imagination - the tiltmeter mounted on the hood showed a smaller degree of slope.

The front wheels stick out a touch more than the rears after the switch so it looks a bit weird for the first few minutes.

The nice thing aside from stability changes is that it makes it a lot easier to get to the grease fittings on the front. Access to the valve stems for air in the back is degraded but not very bad.

With fluid in the rears it is definitely a two-person job, but was done in about 1 hour with a hydraulic jack under the drawbar and a jackstand. The tractor did shift quite a bit when removing the wheels so a pre-positioned jackstand is a must-have item, especially with the fluid in the rears.

Swapping the front wheels was about a 10-minute job for one person.
