Hunting Cabin

Shoot, I might build a little shed man-cave 50 feet from my back porch. I could store some stuff in it and in the winter it would make a good place to smoke my pipe.

I am allowed to smoke in the house.

Have your wives taken over the garage too?

One of my projects in the future is to build a cabin/pretend treehouse/mancave a couple hundred feet from my house on top of an overgrown hill with a fantastic view of my pond. I will put it on 6x6 posts and try to get it as high up as possible, then in time, the young trees growing all around it will get bigger and make it look like a tree house. This will be for friends to spend the night.

Totally lost interest in that. I've come to realize that I'm not a people person, and prefer not having a lot of people around me. If given the choice, I would never go to town, or even interact with 99 percent of the people I deal with on a regular basis. MY pie in the sky, rainbows and unicorns dream now is to build a reception hall overlooking my pond and rent it out for weddings. So far, I'm building up the pad, creating a parking area and shaping a two way road to get there.

Eddie,

I think your idea of not interacting with a lot of people is my reality out here. After 20+ years of being a public servant I just don't feel like I have much left to give. The way a lot of folks react is so negative and such a downer. I have found my dream place and find that reacting with my dog to be a lot more pleasant.

I have built my "cabin in the woods" and I'm satisfied with things the way they are here.

I understand...

The reason I ask is several of my friends know about Eddie from Hayward that moved to Tyler to make his dream a reality.

You have quite a following.

The part about opening up your property/home to random stingers makes a lot of sense.

It's like my brother's Christmas tree farm... they trade 6 weeks a year between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the rest of the year in solitude accessible to only the people they want to see...

I do think you are a people person... but even people persons need a place to recharge and regroup.

You may need to think things through.
