Sure glad to hear everyone is OK ... property is replaceable -- lives are not.

We actually haven't heard from chucko, Whiskey or Soundguy, yet -- some of them were a lot closer to the storm than me. They may not have electricity back, yet...

I have an employee vacationing in Daytona with her 6 yr old son. Talked to her last night and her flight home for today was cancelled out of Sanford Airport. I can't reach her cell phone today, I assume towers are down. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It's interesting to follow the hurricane on the news. Obviously everyone is hoping all will be OK. It's intersting too to have been in Maine many years ago and have folks ask me how I could live in California with all those earthquakes. Since birth, I have felt one earthquake, it was mild at best. Thats been 47 years. In that time, I'm sure I have seen more natural disasters based in Florida then any other state. It's odd that that was never brought up by folks living in Maine and yet, Florida is perhaps one of the most Eastern retiree states in the country. Best wishes to all folks living in Florida. I bought my daughter a ticket to spend the week with her best friend in Tampa. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Today they're getting eight inches of rain. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif This is the same daughter who went to Mexico to see her little brother only to have to play nursemaid for the week she was there as he had emergency surgery the first morning she was there. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif We should have expected something like this. We had a tornado touch down here on her wedding day. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Things are never boring in her life. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif She's not leaving until Monday so her flight should be OK. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

"Things are never boring in her life."

Actually Gary, that is what I would call a "blessed" life. I enjoy hearing about story's like that. It certainly makes you live for the moment.

My parents got power turned on last night -- they were out for a total of 5 days. They sent me a few pictures from their house. This first one is just before the eye of the storm hit Punta Gorda -- their pool and cage luckily was protected from the winds by the house.

This is a view along the one side of the house looking toward the road (their house is on the right). This palm tree wasn't able to withstand the winds.

The magnolia tree in the front yard also lost the fight.
