I had a JD4400. Now a new Kubota L5030, My hyd top link is about 8" too short. Should I add on the end or buy a new one. The clylinder is a 2 x 8.

You could easily weld your new 8 inch end on the existing cylinder. However your cylinder will still be lacking 8" of total movement. If that doesn't restrict your needs then go for it.

Check the difference in length extended and retracted of your OEM link. If you add on to what you have, you'll probably not have enough throw in your cylinder. I would buy a replacement cylinder that matched the retracted length of my OEM link and was pretty close to the extended length.

I need about 8" so I can add on. It has threads on the end that I have a eye welded to a nut with a jamb nut behind that. I just need another nut and pipe and a new eye. This way I can remove the end easy and use it for some thing eles. It is a regular 2x8 cylinder that I made work for the top link. I will post a pic when done.
