Hydraul Cylinders on Koyker 165 Loader

Were you satisfied with the lift capacity before? or did you think the loader was too weak for the tractor?

The koyker 220 thru 385 loaders had 2.5" cylinders. Those had capacities from ~2600# to 3300#. So you are coming close to doubling the lift capacity that the 165 loader frame was made for. Wanting a heaftier cylinder isnt a bad thing, but I would consider lowering the pressure down to ~1500psi or so. Not sure how your tractor is plumbed and if you can do that without adversely effecting the 3PH? or possibly ad a PRV that only changes the loader hydraulics. But that is a huge jump on that size of a loader.

It was way to weak. It didn't want to lift a full bucket of base rock more then a foot or two.

The rolling forward with raised cylinders anchored is what caused the failure and that comes down to operator error. If the loader is too light for the tractor, bigger cylinders are just going to create bigger problems unless you lower the relief valve to what the loader was designed for. The problem with that is it will also lower the force for the bucket cylinders unless they have a separate relief valve which isn't likely. If you don't lower the pressure then it's too easy to cause damage to the loader frame and/or the tractor.

I miced up the shaft and cylinders on mine as well. It has a 1 3/4 bore with a 1" shaft. It came on the tractor when I bought it with 42 hours. It has around 100 now. I bought some online last night I am going to make them work I hope.....with a 1.5" shaft. All I can say is..............

KOYKER LOADERS...made in the USA with cheap china parts....LOL

All I can say is my chinese tractor works very well with a Koyker loader and it's lift capacity has been adequate so far

That 1.5" shaft should be plent-y it is the same size as what my K2 has

I haven't read what the rod size is on the bend cyls or I missed it. I checked my B7800 and I see they use a bore size the same, but the bucket has 1" rods and the boom are 1 1/4". My L4240 are all 4 the same size with 1 3/8" rods.

Well a 2" cyl with a 1" rod, that's just not going to get it. If the bucket cyls have bigger rods then the cyls could of been put on wrong.

Looks like the rods in those bent cylinders were way too long for the dia. Looks like several inches never went inside the cylinder. Someone designed them special so they'd bend easily. You should do great with your new cylinders if you can keep the back tires on the ground.

Yeah I have BIG wheel weights on the back wheels so should be fine....LOL

I would want some hefty weight BEHIND the axle as well
