I know that this will get some no ways! But I flushed out my system with the help of these guys. But I used diesel and ran it through a few gallons. Got the idea from the dealer. It seemed to help. Everything is working good now.

Flushing with diesel is perfectly acceptable.
It's a relatively cheap alternative to using kerosene with the price the way it is now.

Yea, I used diesel also when I changed out all my fluids.

Concur. I will continue to recommend kero first, because it has advantages over diesel in specific gravity and volatility. Long story short, kero does a better cleaning job - and over time leaves less of itself in the sump.

But given the growing disparity between kero and diesel prices recently, the economics of the situation are sufficient to outweigh any such minor shortcomings of diesel.

You get my Yes ways!.

Cost is a factor in serviceing or repairing anything when doing it yourself or even when we work up a estimate for a repair or service for our customers. We try, when possible to include all labor & materials in our estimates and try to ensure we do not do anything that will shorten the life of anything.

I don't like to flush a hydraulic system with anything other than the fluid it was designed to run in ........ unless I have to ..... to get it cleaned up !!

I think most people that have had several hydraulic pumps apart for repair etc will agree the hydraulic pump is VERY sensitive to having proper lubrication.

If you were to do my simple uneducated slick / lube test and rub kerosene between your fingers and then rub diesel fluid between your fingers .......... I think you will find diesel is a little more slick.

Furthermore in using diesel as a flushing agent.
I WAS going to mention that if properly filtered and cleaned, it could be used as fuel for further savings.
But I didn't want to get flamed by suggesting to do that since there might be small particles in the flushed diesel that could hurt the fuel injector pump or engine.

I WILL say that I have done this myself ... filtered the used diesel through many layers of cheesecloth and a small pillow case to cleans its before re-using. So it's a personal decision depending on how frugal you are:). I even went through the pail or bucket with a large powerful magnet to get any metal shavings out before filtering. Then I mixed with good diesel fuel at about 1 to 5 ratio and burned it all as fuel.

Like I said, it's a personal decision and I'm sure it depends on how the flush comes out.
Mine was pretty clear. If it was as dirty and brown and sludgy as Richards, I might have second thoughts about doing it?

You should have, it's a good point. Just as properly filtered and cleaned kero can be re-used in the winter as an anti-gel additive.

I bought 4 hoses, three were leaking[one for the shelf] and a set of Glow Plugs in case. The rubber coated metal washers came with the hoses. I installed then, Man it was cold! No leaks, nice!
