Hydraulic Filter Poll

Just wanted to check to see what people are using for a hydraulic filter on the PT4XX series power tracs. I'm still using the PT hydraulic filter, but with a $50 min order, wanted to see what others are using. Post the filter make and number.

I still use the PT filter. I just order enough filters to cover the $50 dollar minimum order as I will be using them eventually.

I purchased a NAPA 1551 today. It is not the same as the Power Trac filter on my 2001 model. There are fewer holes in the filter and the gasket is 1/8" smaller in diameter than the Power Trac filter. It is also about 1/2" shorter than the PT filter. I took a couple pictures and will post them later, as I don't have time to dowload them right now.

Speaking of filters, I am about 5 hours away from my 50 hour change out. Just disconnect spark plugs, take off the old filter replace with the new one after filling with fresh oil . Connect the hose to the port and turn the engine over until the fluid flows out smooth, and back into the tank right?

Your right on track, should take only 5 minutes or so but don't forget on that 50 hour change to do the oil and filter on the engine also.

Be sure everything near the filter, filler and bleed port are super clean before you start. Also, a great suggestion that someone gave me was to use a quart sized plastic bag around the filter before you take it off. I did this today and only spilled a couple drops of fluid. Very good suggestion.

When you find a substitute filter for your machine make mention of the name brand and size of engine that you have Moss has got a kohler I beleive as I do some have a robin engine that might help save someone some trouble. You might have been talking about the hydroulic filter if that is the case disregard this message.

Thanks for the reminder I just changed the engine oil to Amsoil yesterday runs much smoother good stuff, glad to hear it only takes 5 mins. Great tip Moss will do thanks.
