I'm new here, but what a site!

We have recently purchased a very low-hour, 'gray market' YM2200 that's having an issue with the front bucket not being able to hold a setting. When you tip it up, it only holds that position for 30 seconds or so. It did have a loose return hose (repaired) and a mildly leaking hose to the bucket (replaced). The oil level was topped off and all the leaks seem to be fixed. It has at least an hour of run time since the repairs and it's still not behaving. The service book we got is not, shall we say, the best...so I came here for advice! :D

Is it possible that it still has air in the system? Is there a check-valve that may need attention? Perhaps the filter needs cleaning? That said, where is the silly thing? :confused2:

Thanks!

You need to re-seal the lift cylinder.

Thanks for the ideas. To start out, where can I find info on re-sealing the cylinder? Nest question, how do I determine which is the culprit?? Man, we really need a good manual here...

Private purchase. A local farmer bought it (for use as a spare) and it just sat in the barn for several years. He finally cleaned house and sold it to us with only a hundred hours on it. Even though it's almost new, letting equipment just sit around always seems to result in 'issues'.

You can usually switch the lift and curl hydraulic lines and determine if it's the valve or cylinder.

Not really familiar with your 2200 but I think you will find your hydraulic filter right behind your hydraulic pump and a little lower on the right hand side. You will also have a hydraulic screen, probably behind a 3 bolt flange toward the front lower part of the transmission housing.

Do you do this (switch the lines) back at the control levers? Sorry, I'm a truck guy, not a tractor guy! :D

I think it would work either place but I doubt your hoses are long enough to switch at the cylinders. The easy place would be at the control valve. Make sure you swap all four hoses. You don't want to dead head your system. You can eliminate the control valve being bad with this test but if you do have a bad cylinder it could be 1 of 2 or both.
