Grandson just spent $93.00 to replace an 18 inch hyd. line! I realize the threads on the fittings are the problem. How do you know what they are, is there a chart? Are they metric or pipe thread or something weird. Where do you get them? Can you get a fitting to plumb from pipe thread to metric? With the number of foreign tractors, it seems like there should be fittings.

Almost all new tractors in the US are foreign, even the ones that pretend they are made here.

Did he get that hose from the dealer for that brand tractor?
Most any hose can be duplicated by a competent shop that makes hoses. Such as larger ag dealers, many NAPA stores or online hydraulic shops.
Just price a new hose from Deere and see how dear they are.

I have actually been finding locally made hoses to be more expensive that factory hoses. Online hoses have gotten really expensive too. I suspect the equipment manufacturers just haven’t caught up with price increases. But for now, it’s worth shopping around to compare prices.

I would like to see a lot more consistency in fittings, whether they go all metric or whatever. My gripe is that there doesn't seem to be any method of marking fittings, so trying to figure out what they are is a challenge. In the past, I've damaged a few fittings because I thought I knew which system it was but was wrong.
