Hydraulic Motor help/ rotary cutter conversion

You do not have to put the gage in the pressure side, it can go into the return hose or fitting, or tank.

Use the temp gun.

Roger that, I can do that. I was trying to fine one like the one in the picture connected to the winch.

I ordered:
9.59 CU IN PTO DRIVE MOTOR
Item Number: 9-7368-160

3/4 NPT 30 GPM 1500-3000 PSI HYD CUSHION VALVE
Item Number: 9-4019-75-H

And this coupling, which I will either take to have the inside of half of it turned to a 1 3/8 ID or I値l do it with a carbide cutter in a die grinder.
1-3/8" 6T SPLINED COUPLING 167-02206
Item Number: 1-1562

I appreciate everyones help. I will try to keep y誕ll posted on how it is working out....and send some pics when done.

You will need one of these.

DOUBLE RELIEF VALVE. 3/4 NPT 30 GPM 1500-3000 PSI HYD CUSHION VALVE

When a hyd motor is shut down, the motor then acts as a pump and if you block the ports, something will break.

A motor control valve is a valve with spools that lets all ports go to tank in neutral. This is designed to let the hyd motor spin down so as not to develop excessive pressure .

It is strictly an open center spool valve.

You probably have motor spools on the skidsteer aux circuit where you can reverse the flow.

What I have seen in youtube with rotary mowers converted to skidloaders are PTO over running coupler or a clutch in line with the PTO, wouldn't these solve the problem without a relief valve? If not I assume you just connect the double relief valve inline between the skid loader and the motor. What are the small lines coming out of the relief valves?

My key I wanted an opinion on was this. Do you need the relief value for a rotary mower with a hydraulic motor that has a overrunning PTO coupler attached to the spline on the motor. This allows the rotary mower to continue running even though the motor has stopped. It has been the stand method on using bush hogs on tractors to allow the mower to continue to slow down on its own without affecting the pto on the tractor. The other method is the slip clutch in the PTO line, so if either is there do you need the relief value. I do not see people useing the relief value on the youtube videos I watch where they have converted a 3pt rotary mower to a hydraulic motor, they use their methods. Net is, do you need to do both the relief value and one of these that allows the mower to continue run freely?

Have you ever seen a over running clutch between a hyd motor and the gear box?

I have never seen both used together.

If the over running clutch has never been activated, the clutch disk are probably rusted together, so it would probably try and turn the motor and damage something.

You might ask yourself , how much torque must be applied to the clutch to make it slip with a locked up hyd motor.

What kind of valve is on the skidsteer, a motor spool valve, or a cyl valve.

Here is a youtube of the pto overruning coupler on a converted rotary mower with a hydraulic motor, so yes, I have seen it several times. I can not answer what it takes to make the overrunn work, but on craigslist this guy was selling 3pt pto that he makes professionally and he makes them with the dual relief valve , the pto overrunning, and with the clutch. Just trying to better understand if these guys are using something that does not work well.

If you have the relief valve you don't need the clutch.
