2200 must be SO STIFF that you'd have to heat it with a torch to get it out of the can. Sounds to me like the teeth would shear off the gears before the grease would give. Especially in cold Michigan winters.

Brings to mind a story about my stupidity...Had a Suzuki Samuari years ago. Put 85-140 in the trans and it got really cold that winter. Went out to start it, pushed in the clutch, started the motor, put the trans in neutral, let out the clutch and smoked the clutch. $350.00 later, new clutch and 90 weight in the gearbox. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

good question ... you made me go look at mny data sheets to see what was so high. Here's a couple:
Mobilgear SHC series ... synthetic industrial bearing and gear lubricants ... ISO viscosity grade 220 through 6800. The 2200 has a viscosity of 2110 @ 40 C.
application is extreme pressure enclosed low speed gear drives (in our case at least)
