JD 2520
I'm down sizing and am strongly considering a 2520. I am planning on getting a BH (so I will have the power beyond kit) and would also like to use a hydraulically controlled rear blade (I hate re-adjusting it manually) for snow removal in conjunction with a front snow blower and occasionally the FEL. I will use an oversized (approx. 6 foot) blade for snow so that even at high angle it covers the wheel tract.

I see the rear hydro kit offers two extra sets of outlets:

Is that enough, or do I need three?
Will I also need some type of valves to control the blade?
If so, are the valves a JD option?
If I get this kit, will that exclude my FEL/snow blower operations?
Suggestions....

AKK,
The rear Hydro kit is just hoses that extend the front DSCV outlets (for the FEL) to the rear of the tractor, so you can't have the FEL and the rear outlets hooked up at the same time.

As far as how many remotes you need to operate the blade, it can be 1,2 or 3 depending on the blade and how many cylinders it has.

At this time, JD does not have a rear remote kit for the 2xxx series machines, but since you will have the PowerBeyond, you can easily plumb in rear remotes. I have done it on my 4110 (Very similar to the 2520, just older) and there is at least 2 other members that have done it or are in the process of doing it to there 2520's.

Who is a source for parts for that and what would be a good cost estimate?

thx

The SURPLUS CENTER is a great place for valves, DHH is a great place for hoses and fittings.

Expect to spend $500.00 to get two rear remotes.

Here is a LINK to the thread that details my install...

Let me know if I can help more:D

Kenny-

so by adding a power beyond on the back of my 2320 it makes me loose FEL functions?

I was looking at building a plow for the front of my tractor with hydraulic tilt side to side.... and was looking into the power beyond, so i could move the blade up and down, tilt front to back, and titl side to side..... looks like i cant do that.

Nope. Kenny indicated that he had increased the hydraulic options available by "tapping" into the PBY circuit.

It's been awhile since I looked at Kenny's project but -- by adding a multiple SCV block valve to the power beyond circuit you can operate several hydraulic cylinders without tieing up the use of your FEL.

Deere's current option for the 2520 is to tap into the dual SCV for the FEL functions and run hoses to the rear of the tractor for the top and tilt configuration. So, you can't use your FEL at the same time as the top and tilt.

Kenny's option let's you have both.

Deere has listed a 3rd SCV as an option for the 2320/2520 in some of the literature. Last I heard it was supposed to be available "late August" so I was wondering if anyone has heard about that. I don't know the cost, but it could be a viable option for you-if it ever comes out and isn't cost prohibitive.

As AK responded, You do not "loose" anything. In fact I "gained" two remotes in my project!

If your primary reason is for a snowplow, then you could just add a electric diverter to the loader controls, I did this also. By doing this you effectively get the 3 controls you need for the plow, and you don't have to run hoses from the rear of the machine all the way to the front of the loader.

You can search for "diverter" for lots of reading on that subject. Here is the LINK to my install. There are MANY threads on this.

As far as the JD option for the 3rd remote, we are all waiting to see what they come up with...

If you are still considering this 2520 and still interestedin the hydraulics for same, here is a link to the writeup I made for the 2520, adding 3-spool hydraulics to back of tractor, also top and tilt, and doing it as inexpensively as I could. I did not pay for JD's Power Beyond kit, but as you will see from the discussion in the link I was able to tap into the flow, enabling power beyond for very little money.
