I am working on a friends tractor which Is mostly used to run a hay binder via remotes. He states that initially it will work fine for about 30 minutes ,then get slower and slower until he loosens the plug on the lift cover remote and lets some fluid out.and then it is good for maybe 10 minutes. He is not sure if it is just fluid or some air that shoots out.
I have pulled the lift cover and cleaned the suction filter and replaced the return filter, replaced the o rings at both ends of the suction and return lines.
The filters were actually ptetty clean and the fluid other than dirty and black had no milky look.
Since I could find nothing that I could nail as the problem I am hesitant to put it together and until I talk again to the owner I do not know whether there it is sucking air or there is a blockage of some type
any help or ideas are appreciated

Spoke to the owner for more clarification and he states that iniitally everything will work fine for maybe an hour ,then get slower until the remote stops working. He then loosens off the plug on the remote on the lift cover and fluid will start to come out, he tightens it back up and all is fine for maybe even 20 minutes. He does seem to think that the warmer it is the more it occurs.
A pressure check shows that I have about 2400 psi

You may wish to determine exactly what type fluid is in there, though it may be simpler to just replace the fluid with new fluid of the recommended type. If the fluid is black it's probably due for a change anyhow.

Sounds like a heat problem.

I do agree that it appears to be heat related but right now I am at a loss as where to start

After a pile more reading I am beginning to think the seal in the pump may be the problem, but I will keep checking before I put it together

Well l have it together now but find that the previous owner had rounded off the prime plug and it won’t come out.
I did try applying pressure to the system but no success.
the pump had good pressure and lift before I replaced the filter and yes i did also try it with air and the rear end raised.
Any help now is appreciatedv

Have it together now but discovered that the Allen head plug for priming had been rounded of and although I tried I could not get it out .
I have tried to prime by pressurizing the system with the rear end lifted but no luck
The system other than picking up some air did operate well and strong
Any help is appreciated and needed

Well success at last. I found the deepest ditch I could find ,drove ut in until the sump was higher than the pump and then put about 10 psi of air into the sump and after about 5 minutes the lift arms came to life.
They we’re jerky at first put after a couple of minutes of idling and working the controls they settled down .
Thanks for all the help and as the expression goes “ Even a blind cat will catch a mouse if they keep at it long enough and Don,t give up”
