I have a compact tractor with a front end loader and rear blade. The loader worked fine, but is now experiencing problems. Without a load placed on it, the front end loader seems slow but is able to move as it should. Lifting any type of load becomes the issue- it will not do this.

The 3-point hitch / rear blade works as it should and without any hesitation.

I have changed the fluid, cleaned the hydraulic screen (was not what I would consider "dirty") and double checked the fluid level afterwards. Hoses and connections look very good. Can't find any visible leaks.

Anyone have any additional thoughts as to:

1. what else I could check or a systematic method to narrow the problem down
2. how to check whether the hydraulic pump is weak or bad

Thanks for any help.

Swap the work port hoses on the loader valve. In other words, make the lift cylinder hoses the curl cylinder hoses. Now see if your lift problem goes away or moves to the curl function.

Also did you change all hydraulic filters and cleaned all screens? Some tractors have more than one of each.

Since you didn't fill out your profile with your location and tractor type there is not much else I can suggest. If you let us know what you have then maybe we can get more specific.

Unfortunately, the problem is actually affecting both the lifting and curling movements.

After draining the hydraulic fluid, I cleaned the one screen that I found.

Additional information:
Yanmar 1500D / NC

Here are some suggestions: <ul type="square"> [*]The pressure relief valve internal to the loader valve may be defective [*]The loader valve could have an internal blockage [/list] Since the 3pt works you would have to assume the pump is functioning normally.

Thanks for the suggestions of things to look at. Since I am new to tractors, I have to ask:

Where will the pressure relief valve be located? I have some manuals on the tractor, but not on the loader it's manual control.
