I have a mahindra 2810 that instantly stopped pumping. I was using the fel when it just went limp. I checked the 3 pt and there is no pressure there either. Any ideas what could be wrong. Where to start looking. Anything you can tell me would be a help.

Thanks,

Fishin

Had the same thing happen to me, when the hyd. pump went out. But, if nothing hydraulic is working, the first thing I would check is hyd. fluid level. If that's OK, then I would look at the pump.

I don't know anything about that unit.. whether it is shaft driven.. cam driven.. gear driven.. belt driven.. etc.. but here are some general hyd troubleshooting ideas.

Ensure oil in the sump.. check for intake blockages.. including colapsed hoses.. and by the way.. a hose can internally colapse.. and look ok on the outside. Check for lost prime ( doesn't sound like your problem ).
Check to make sure the drive to the pump is working.. I.E. that the shaft isn't broke..
Look for blown seals... I've sean some engine mounted pumps that deadheaded when a QD came undone, and then blew a seal, and started pumping hydro fluid into the crankcase... check that crankcase oil level.

Check the relief valve.. it may have failed 'open'.

Check for a massive intake vacume leak..

I appreciate the input. I was hoping I had overlooked something. I checked the sight glass. The level is fine. I guess the next thing is to do like you said and check the pump.

Thanks again,

A little more info. The tractor is only 1 year old. It is a 28hp 4 wheel drive unit. It has about 80 hours on it. It is still under warranty and I was just trying to make sure it wasn't something simple that I was doing wrong. Appreciate any other ideas.

Thanks,

Could be any number of things if loader is supplied thru remotes. Is power steeering dead also? Most tractors steering have priority flow divider that is independent of lift and remotes Assuming it's open center, I'd take off supply hose to loader valve and see if you have flow before tearing into pump. If relief , cushion, or other valves are bad you should still have low pressure flow.

Check all the hydraulic quick dis-connects under the tractor. If one is not connected good or has become slightly dis-connected, it can stop all flow.

Jerry,
Are quick disconnects common under a tractor? I've never heard of that before. I don't think my tractor has any. The loader quick-connects are under the left foot rest...is that what you mean?
