I made mine. Used a 3" diameter cylinder with 1.5" ram. Collapsed length 20". Extended length 30". That's center of pin to center of pin.
I'm very content with the length. I use a QH and never take it off.
Yeah, that's a nice job making your own. I've heard some cases where the cylinder could not be too long because in the most retracted/collapsed position it would not allow bringing the implement up high enough for normal operation. No doubt that depends quite a lot on how much room you have between the top link attach point on the tractor and the distance outward to equal the holes at the end of the lift arms. That stuff should be standardized in 3pt hitch definitions (and I'm sure it is) but it still seems to vary among various brands/designs/models.
