I just recently installed a hydraulic toplink for my Montana 3644. I have dual rear remotes built in so It was pretty easy to get it up and running with my cylinder from surplus sales. I used 3/8 inch hoses.

The problem is the movement seems a little quick for the top link as it would be better to move a little slower.

I think you can but some type of restricter in the hoses or fittings. Can someone help me? What do I need to put it in to slow down the movement?

You can put a washer in the line between the threaded hoes end and the quick coupler, try various ID sizes. You only need to do one of the two hoses. KennyV.

You are right kenny you can use the washer trick but if you want to really fine tune it you need a couple of needle restrictor valves and then you can easily set the speed of both extend and retract i like to fit them up at the remote ends as you can adjust from the seat go for the ones that have free flow in one direction and restrict on reverse flow and resrict the flow coming from the tractor not the ram this is not as cheap as fitting up the washer trick but it is much better:)

Come on now, a guy from Rolla should be able to get 50 engineers on a problem like this! (Yeah, I went there. Fond memories of the "Top Hat" bar.)

Line restriction or even smaller lines are what many use on the top link. A larger diameter cylinder is the more elegant solution.

This is why most use 1/4" hose to plumb the cylinders...but since you already have the hoses, restrictors are the way to go.

You need to install one of these. Made by Parker and will control flow 0-5gpm at 5000psi. They come in many pipe thread sizes. You can lock it where ever you want once you get it set. Parker part #N400ss. This one is stainless but you can get them in steel as well. I put one of these on the angle cylinders when I mounted my truck plow on my loader arms to slow the angle down. You only need one on either line to restrict the flow in both directions.
