check valve chatter and decreased feathering ability.

Don't have a clue what that is Greg. Any of you other guys that have double piloted check valves on your cylinders have chatter and decreased feathering ability? Greg I'm afraid that you may have got some bad information all the way around.

One of the attractions of tilt for me is the option to use float to allow implement to follow the ground. Can you float a check valved cylinder?

I use float too, but on my (so so) top link cylinder for mowing, works great for the hills & valleys.

I was just wondering how many (those who swear by the Check Valves) have gone out and installed check valves on all four of their FEL cylinders?

Just curious.

People would buy them if the right one were offered in the United States. That has been the problem when doing home built top and tilt. The valves are made over the big pond and no one here has been able to find a retailer that can or or wants to get them.

Not very practical or cost effective on a CUT. However, most large excavators and backhoes have DPOCV's built right into the spool valve.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it looks like that that RD-14xx "cracks " at 750

That's right, but the other part of the equation is the form factor. At 6" x 4" x 1.75" and weighing 7 lbs that valve is not practical for use on a HTL.

I'm curious why you're coming across as so inflexible on this - some kind of vested interest? I believe I implied for use with a HTL, I don't believe the word on was used. And I don't see why anybody has to be slaved to the cylinder-mounted check valve configuration. The only mandatory requirement is that the DPCV be inline between the remote QDs and the cylinder. If/when I require the assistance of such a device, a logical alternative configuration would be something like
1. remote QDs
2. hoses to DPCV
3. DPCV mounted on fender
4. hoses to HTL cylinder

That is, if you even need one in the first place.

I am nothing of the sort. I am just pointing out the facts as I see them, just as you are. It is up to each individual to choose what is best for them, and they cannot do that without getting all the facts. Not everyone here has the skill set necessary or the desire to connect up a "roll your own" hydraulic setup.

FYI, there are several other alternatives which have been discussed here that are just as good and maybe better in some cases than an external DPOCV.

I know that CCM has by far the best top links out there (as they contain pilot check valves)-I have one of their side links, but jury-rigged something for a top link because last year they didn't have any in stock in the size I need when I ordered.

I tried ordering another top link from CCM about a month ago, but had a really nice chat with Mark at CCM the other day, and it sounds like there won't be any top links in the size I need (16" retracted) until the fall, at the earliest. While I'd much prefer to give CCM my business, as they have always been great to deal with, and Mark has always been exceptionally helpful on the phone, I need to get a few jobs done NOW with a new implement that won't work with my jury-rigged setup.

So, I noticed a place called "Redlandhill" has some for sale on EBay- does anyone have any experience with them? I know they don't have check valves, but I need something NOW to get a few jobs done, so I may have to compromise. The one "plus" I noted was that the cylinder extends 8" (it actually retracts to 16.5"), while the CCM one only extends 6" (from 16-22", as I recall).

(Yes, I did try searching this site, but came up empty handed.)

Thank you all in advance for any opinions / words of wisdom.

I have had one of their top links for about a year, I added Pats quick hitch which pushes the arms on my BX2200 back and it has fit every thing I has hooked it to. I got it to use on my box blade.
I have had no problems with it and it does not creep as long as the engine is running
