Kubota L2950
Hello to all, this forum has been educational to say the least and I want to thank you. I'm working at trying to get a Mile Marker 12,000lb hydraulic winch connected to my Kubota L2950 and it has been challenging to say the least as I'm very ignorant about hydraulics. The idea is to use the winch to haul logs out of the woods so we can heat the house and do this on a shoestring budget. I'm trying to understand the concept, but not entirely sure I understand what is what. Is Photo #1 of a plug that that that is high pressure line on FEL valve that I can use to plumb the winch? Is photo #2 a plug on the hydraulic block for for low pressure return line from the winch? Is Photo #3 a plug on the 3 point hitch I can use for the for an alternate low pressure line for the winch? Is photo #4 a blank plate Kubota uses for their alternate hydraulic block for rear remotes? Besides still needing various hoses, connectors and miscilaneous items, I'm also needing possibly this flow control valve as the winch requires a max 3.5 gal, and 1500 psi. https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=9-064-38&catname=hydraulic
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Larry

For one thing, you will have to reduce the pressure down to 1500 psi, and the valve below can do that. This valve has optional 3 position detent.

The relief valve will probably relieve the whole time you are winching, so some heat will build up.

Your tractor valve flow is 6.8 GPM's

Motor spool valve relief set to 2200 - 3200 psi. Relief needs to be about 1500 psi.

To install this valve select a pressure outlet and connect a hose from that point to the motor spool valve IN port, then connect another hose from the PB outlet to the 3pt, and add a hose from the OUT port to tank

Divider valve. You will not need this if you run the engine at 1/2 engine rpm.

If you run your engine at half speed, you should match the winch GPM requirement.

#1 I don't know, but #2 looks to be the relief valve.#3 I think is a test port for your rockshaft piston and valve. #4 is for the draft control valve. And as for as the winch I don't know a thing about them, so no help here. You well have to come off of your loader valve PB line to a valve if your winch doesn't have a valve.
There is a place to hook up a aux. valve on the rockshaft and it is right behind the # in the #3 pic. try and get a picture from there back. And if there is a place there you well still need a valve, if the winch doesn't have one.

Thanks for the ideas. Took off the seat and view #5 is looking down at 3 point hitch. Circled area is same plug as #3. Anywhere to plumb in to a winch in the photo? The winch has solenoid valves built in so I should be good to go? Still need a way to regulate pressure and flow to 3.5 gal and 1500 psi. Wont this do that?

Thanks again Larry

You would not know where you are unless you had gauges. Most machine units are built for a 10% variance. I'd try running it!

Thanks again Larry

The valve you posted will give you flow in one direction only.

You need a FWD and REV valve for IN and OUT operation, plus relieve the pressure to 1500 psi..

But I thought he said the winch has solenoid valves on it? Wouldn't they provide FWD and REV? My Q is where is he going to plumb the return oil to? It has to come back to the tractor somewhere. That should be the easy part, though.

Yes, he does show a solenoid valve, which should provide direction.

I see two fittings for connecting hoses, so one must be for input, and the other out, which should go to tank/reservoir.

He needs to be careful where he gets the PB fluid, so the system circuit is complete.

Does the winch have a relief valve.

If he puts anything after the winch, the pressure will be limited by the winch pressure.

In winch neutral mode, will he have flow through the winch?

Is this winch a temporary attachment or will it be mounted permanently.

I would recommend a remote valve to keep the hyd in a series flow condition, such as pump, FEL, remote valve, 3pt, tank.

The picture in the parts manual shows it hooking up at the 45 deg. flat. Your isn't machined and doesn't have 2 holes there. I thing now I would do like art said and get a gauge to find pressure port and return.
Go here and down load the parts manual, then you see what I'm talking about. Kubota Parts or here TractorSmart home page

The picture of the winch shows the valve and 2 JIC fittings. You could blow thru those with air and see if it is open-center with no 12vdc applied. I would assume that is the way it is? If not, it must be expecting that a 12vdc pump comes on simultaneously with winch IN or OUT?

The picture of the block on the tractor (if that is for the tractor we are talking about?), shows Aux OUT and Aux IN, aside from Pump & trans. Then there is the control slotted-screw, that must be turned to "C".....whatever C means?
