I have had 2 instances of engines running backwards that I had to shut off. I was a 350hp detroit diesel and the other was a 300hp Mack, Maybe 5 seconds max on both. Both in trucks and the slobberbox [detroit] was in deep sand and the Mack was running winches. No damage to either engine and no Hydraulics involved. I can't wrap my mind around how the hydraulics functioned backwards for him on the ground drives. The charge pumps are not birotational so nothing should have worked when the diesel was running backwards including the engine oil pump. If it was indeed running backwards for almost a minute then that would not be a good thing. CJ
