Hydro Filter help/Question

That was real close to what I had. I dont have my manuel out here but I thought it called for the filter change at 20 hrs then fluid/filters at 100. I cant remember for certain but thought that is how I did it.

But I would definatally change the fluid anyway. I thought the kubota manual called to change all the fluids @ 50hrs and not just the filters????

Either way, I am not a believer in just changing filters. The oil isn't that expensive and doesn't add much to the time involved. If it only calls for a filter, I give it a new filter AND fresh oil.

Add me to this habit.

If the filter goes then so does the oil. Kubota changed their oil change intervals because customers complained about having to change 15 gallons of oil and the related costs - both environmentally and in the pocketbook.

Do a UOA to really decide what shape the oil is really in. I'd rather have the piece of mind of fresh oil than have to worry about failure because of being a cheapskate.

Those machining chips did not happen to just be there. Someone at assembly tossed a hand full in there. I'm sure both processes are not in the some location. What a shame. Probably not a problem since it hasn't been. Just did my bx2660 (50 hr) and not a chip in the hyd filter or strainer. BTW That is assembled in Japan and shipped here as a unit.

Thanks for the info all - I was really concerned but feel a bit better now. I am going to change the filters and oil again in 40 or so hrs so hopefully everything will be clean and clear by then.

On another note, I got a quote on three five gallon pails of Kubota SUDT @ $105.00 Each!. I'll need to add ocean freight to that and pay the HAZMAT
extra so it will probably come in at over $500 for a Hydro Oil Change.

Will I swap oil and filter at 50 hours. Most likely I will especially with nefarious Japanese disaffected unionized tractor assemblers eating rice with one hand and tossing metal chips into hydro housings with the other :laughing::laughing::laughing:

I used our version of UDT, which in Canada is called Premium UDT. Neither UDT nor SUDT is available here for some unknown reason.

32 litres plus the hydraulic filter was just shy of expensive...

Here's a pic of my filter from last night. Second filter and first fluid change. Just a light coating of "steel fur". Pretty much what I consider normal for a transmission.

47 hours at first filter change, then 114 at second.

The wrenches were no match for the filter, the cup wrench bent the end flutes of the filter, and the strap wrench simply bent.

The ratchet strap with a prybar finally loosened the dam* thing enough to get it off. It was tightened following Kubota's directions..

It took a chain-style pipe wrench and a come-a-long attached to its handle to get the transmission filter off of the L48. What were they thinking?

If this one is as bad to get off, the next one won't be installed as tight as they recommend.

Those are metal spirals off drill bits for the most part, have to agree it looks like someone threw them in. I would get a picture and letter off to Kubota-someone needs to be released for other employment.
