I just recently purchased a MF 23hp tractor. Was wondering if you can take the hydro foot pedal. and have it made to side by side forward and reverse instead of the current toe and heal pedal

All it takes is money....


Find a custom fabrication shop and open your wallet. It's probably a 20 - 40 hour job to re-engineer the linkages, fab up the two peddles and install. A quality shop will charge 90-125 per hour for that type of service, so figure on 2-5,000 to have a pro shop custom out your tractor.

WOW That much. you wouldn't think so

I'm guessing that either you have never had or done anything like this before. My guess would be in the 4-6k range. Anytime that you do one offs,(one of a kind, starting from scratch) the end product is BIG bucks, if it is done right.

Give the rocker foot pedal a chance, you might even like it in just a short time. I would give it a chance before paying to get new control pedals made.

I find that I can find enough work to do that I don't need more linkage to maintain and lube or adjust when it might get bent from a tree limb or debris that the tractor might be going over.

Sorry but the system you have is the number one system used by far and it's with good reason.

Sticker shock is why there are not more full on custom cars, trucks and tractors out there. Now you could find some shade tree type with a 3 pound maul and a welder that can do it for less. But, what happens when the linkage binds up tight and you're going full speed toward the road? Think that guy with the 2 day old beard, greasy coveralls and halitosis is going to pay for your funeral expenses? Ha! That's why he made you pay cash - no trace no liability.

If you do not want to spend the big bucks; do it yourself. Begin with a "simple" sketch of what will be needed, to the best of your ability. Then call around for prices on the items needed, then call a machine shop and explain, to the best of your ability, what you will need made and see what kind of price he gives you. You see where this is going. Hopefully you can use a cad program to finally draw an exact blueprint of what you want. I am positve it will all fit together exactly as you planned on the first attempt because I am sure you have better luck than myself.
It willbe cheaper to trade your unit for a machine ( new holland, JD etc) with what you are looking for.
