Yo, all, just lookin to get some free advice on if I must use the oem fluids when servicing or can i use canada tire brand tractor fluid? Thanks to all who respond. I have a 2006 TC 30 Newholland FEL backhoe rig. I change the fluid too much and can save money if I don't get my stuff from the dealer....

Does your tractor have a hydro trans? I was wondering the same thing about my 1520 HST and have read about some folks here having trouble with the HST in cold weather with non-OEM hydraulic fluid.

I plan to use the NH 134D stuff in mine and change it at the specified intervals.

Just remember that the Multi-G 134 that NH sells is essentially a multigrade oil (10W30). It has superior lubrication and cold weather viscosity properties compared to a cheaper grade of oil that might be a single weight and not rated for temperatures in excess of 200 degrees F. The oil that somebody in Texas, Louisiana, or Florida uses might never cause a problem in those geographical areas, but it might not perform satisfactorily in the northern tier states. Just know what you are getting and don't base your decision only on price. Make sure your oil is compatible with Multi-G 134 NH spec 410B.

Good info jinman, thanks! I use my tractor in NJ and New Hampshire, and will use New Holland's 134 for its cold weather capabilities.

I agree that less expensive/non-OEM hydraulic oil may work perfectly well for someone in a different climate.

it's none HST the hydrolic fluid is what they use in everything, the gear box front axil diff, and loader!

The specification for the Tractor Hydraulic is NH 410B the older Ford
specification is no longer supported by New Holland, I did some calling around
yesterday.

Ambra Multi G 134
Mobilfluid 424
Citgo Tractor Hydraulic Fluid
Mystic JT-5 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid (my local F&F has it for ~$50 per 5 gallon pail.)

All meet NH 410B.

All meet NH 410B.

so I guess what I'm trying to say is at my local Canadian Tire when I look at the fluid is there a magic number I need to look for on the jug o fluid? There is a house brand "all in one" fluid that sounds like it might work but I don't no how to be sure...

is the multi g no longer a M2c134d spec oil?

wow.. when did they change this?

I'm surprised they did not change the oil name to prevent confusion.

I remember when the multi g came out I saw a m2c134d spec on it.

still ambra?

M2C134 is a Ford Specification.

Ford no longer owns New Holland, CNH/Fiat owns New Holland.

Why would NH use a Ford specification?

Multi-G 134 is now NH Spec 410B.

Thanks Jinman...

If you want an oil to be compatible with your New Holland tractor look
for NH 410B. The old Ford spec might or might not work, they may
change that spec and it may not in the future, it may not now. Ford
no longer worries if it meets the needs of tractor users as they do not sell
tractors any more. New Holland owns the 410B specification and they
do care if it works in their tractors.

NH has been using the m2c134d spec for a long time..

Fellows, here's a photo that goes a long way to explain this whole confusing issue. It's a bucket of Ambra Multi G 134, and below that label you can clearly see in lighter print "NH410B.". I think NH must post the spec as the type of oil because my LB75B TLB Owner's Manual says NH Spec 410B oil with no mention of Multi-G 134 anywhere whatsoever, but I've never seen a label that prominently displayed Spec 410B. I think the new Multi-G 134 reflects the multi-grade 10W30 nature of the oil and its use for much more than just hydraulic or HST oil. It's also a fine multi-season lubricant and can actually leak into the engine without doing any damage as several people have had happen here. It may not be the best engine oil, but it won't hurt a thing for a short time.

sounds like this was an update of the '134' spec, as even the name mentions `134'

cnh must have finally got tired of using an old spec / named oil.

hey now here's a question.

I remember there was a cold weather hydro oil. they still got that.. or does the new ambra multi cover that? if so.. nice deal... i'm so outta the loop on the new stuff.. :) give me an 00 or 01 series row crop and I'm at home.. :)

This has been the source of confusion with NH since Fiat showed up. Traditionally, North American (NA) Ford used M2xxxx oils, that was their spec numbers, be it a tractor, auto or truck. European Fords used other numbering. Ambra is Fiat's oil. That's why they use Ambra 134. They combined the Fiat/Ford names.

When the Fiat based machines showed up ( TN, TL, LB, LW), the owners manuals were calling for 410B oil, the brake oil had different numbers, the only ones that could be figured out was the engine oils. Now that Case/IH is in the mix, and more cross branding, there's more confusion. NH has a chart showing the NH/Ford, Fiat, Case/IH, Sae and Mil specs, along with current part numbers.

Long story short, NH410B is multi G 134 which is M2C 134D.

The cold weather substitute for 134 is F200.

I think it is interesting to note on the pail of Multi-G 134 above that it says "Transmission Oil" instead of hydraulic oil. It seems the better grade of oils by all manufacturers specify that they are acceptable for transmissions as well as hydraulic systems.

Just for fun, I scanned the lubrication spec sheet for my NH LB75.B TLB. There are plenty of specs to "chase" on this page. :D
