Hydrolics

I do find it interesting that a lot of posters come on here and inquire about issues that in reality only require some due diligence to fix but then I guess that is an optional thing today and I'll leave it at that. Guess it's the general attitude of the enviroment we are living in today.

One thing I don't believe I've ever done is post up any issue I was not able to deduce and remedy myself.
I guess two of the general attitudes of much of society today are rudeness and intolerance. Some people don't know how to spell perfectly, and sometimes people turn to a forum of experienced users, as this is supposed to be, to get an informed opinion, as the OP has done. In my opinion, such a forum would benefit from holier-than-thou attitude holders, such as yourself, refraining from stating their opinion.

"Your one to talk
It had to be said……."
Fat fingers cannot excuse grammatical errors

Highdraulics does not go without notice - I'm running Googol Chrome on a Win 11 Laptop and suspect the Spell Checker is somehow incorporated they're within Chrome - but it is NOT listed as an 'extension,' so . . .

It catches the misspellings, but misses the odd lapse in grammar as seen in that there 'screen shot/grab) above.

The one about "some people . . . refraining from stating their opinion" surely deserves an honorable PCKB mention!

How, if "people turn to a forum of experienced users . . . to get an informed opinion," where those with "informed opinions" are admonished to refrain from offering same, would such a forum work?

Given the obesity epidemic the world is witnessing, "a ton of people" is likely to average fewer than 10. As well, 'owner's manuals' are hardly the exceptionally well-written, easily fathomed tomes the fifty-thirty author (bereft of a SC App) implies.

Nor are they all written, and or translated so poorly from the Chinese, Korean, or or Asian mother tongues of the people who design, manufacture and deliver their creations to the "united*" States of America.

As we've noted here, Americans (we assume, don't we) have yet to develop a commendable facility with their native tongue. Yet here I am chastising Asians I've never met for failing to communicate effectively in my language - even as I know but seven words in Korean, and have never bothered to learn another's language save dabbling in French during High School because the teacher was simply beautiful.

Let he who is without fault . . .

We certainly live and exist in strange times....
Well, compared to what, exactly?

Reading American History, one might fairly conclude that 'we' have always lived in 'strange times.'

Then again, 'we' don't read American History. Even in school, we wind up reading textbooks about subjects - essentially the condensed versions of the condensed versions the Texans approved for 'public school use.'

I defy anyone with an opinion on the subject to spend hours consuming The Path Between The Seas or The Brooklyn Bridge by David McCullough (RIP) and contrast that activity with 'their best American History experience' in any public school.

There are immense pressures upon Public Education to do more with less - think about the remuneration disparity as between those we entrust to inform our offspring and those we pay to 'serve' in Congress.

We regularly ***** about our educational system even as we move to hand it over to private entities and even religious schools and ignorant mommas* asserting their right to 'home school' their offspring.

Strange times indeed.

I have a Kubota l235 DT that the bucket was lifting jerky and slow so I change the hydraulic filter now I have no hydraulics break the lines loose at the pump no hydraulic fluid coming out while it's running what do I do
Hello Jon, Check for stuck open relief valve, Bad pump, Air in system. Loose coupling to pump shaft if applicable. Contact me at sales@ncservo.com.
Good luck,
Servoking

First off, spell check would be nice... It's not 'Hydrolics', it's Hydraulics. You need to check the amount of fluid in the gearbox and add if becessary and use the correct fluid and not the cheap farm store junk either. Your tractor will either have a 'sight glass' or a dipstick. Hopefully, you used the correct filter(s) as well.
Haha you checked his spelling but not your own. “Becessary”? “Nanual”? I had to bypass spell check to even type these! ;^P

I don't know about your particular machine, but most tractors use the transmission/differential housing as a hydraulic reservoir, and on those machines there is almost always a screen on the suction line to the pump. If you are operating in a dirty environment, or the machine is older, or fluids are allowed to become contaminated, that screen can become plugged so that the hydraulic pump cannot provide enough suction to start picking up the fluid. Your jerky movement in the hydraulic system could have been caused by a dirty filter, low fluid level, or this screen being plugged. I would have done the same thing you did and change the filter only after checking the fluid level and if that did not fix the jerkiness, I would have pulled the screen out of the transmission housing to make sure it was not plugged. If that did not fix the issue, check the suction hose/s and connections for a possible leak of air into the system. When all of these possibilities are not the problem, the pump is probably shot, or as somebody mentioned, the pressure relief may be stuck or failed.

I don't own a Kubota, but my Massey has QD fittings not only at the FEL but at intermediate points in the hydraulics. I've had a QD fail on me causing it to prevent flow.

Certainly check the fluid level, then verify the pumps output at the pump or the furthest unrestricted upstream point. Be prepared to be surprised at the amount and pressure.

The FEL has two cylinders, one would easily lift an empty bucket. This tells you the problem is at or before where the hydraulics for the cylinders split.

Unless, one cylinder is fighting the other. If the supply or discharge on one of the cylinders is restricted this could also cause the jerky movement.

If communication were strictly about spelling or grammar I'd have never been able to understand the problems that plant operators were trying to tell me.

Setting aside all the sniping, if he changed the filter and now has no hydraulic pressure, then it seems likely to be one of two things.

1) He installed the wrong filter and it is obstructing flow. Check part numbers, and if in doubt, get a filter from the tractor manufacturer.

2) The hydraulic fluid level was very low to begin with, and after some loss associated with changing the filter, it's now just sucking air. Low fluid could also explain his initial issues. This is super easy to check and remedy.
