Hydro's and brake pedals

Let me think about this, you put your left foot in over the right foot until done braking then you pull left foot back out....Sounds like the hanky panky and that's what its all about.

I'll have my split brakes served up warm on the left thank you.

What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

This is a good thread.

While we are on the topic of pedals, how about this.....My JD has a hand throttle and a foot throttle. I am horrible with the foot throttle. Every little bump I hit sort of rattles my foot on the pedal causing a jerking motion like to break my back.

Question....With these hydro pedals, are they easy to control or maintain speed when driving rough terrain.??

I solely use the hand throttle.
Maybe it is the design of the foot throttle. Maybe it is technique. I say this because my wife voiced the same feeling early on. Now shes an expert at it.
Are you able to set your heel down to steady your foot?

My 4010 with HST has "cruise control", which is just a lever that sets the position of the hydro pedal. In really rough, I don't think it's a good idea to use it though, as you'd likely want to slow down if it gets very rough.

To TripleR

You are a class act:thumbsup:

It's hard to have been-there and done-that, yet called stupid by those who have never been there. Such is life.

agreed.

With my Kubota there is only a hand throttle. The HST pedal is designed to let you easily have your heel on the floor for going forward and your toes on the floor for reverse. These are very stable configurations and mostly immune from problems with rough terrain. In certain situations you may want your entire foot on the HST pedal so you can rock it back and forth but these situations do not include covering much ground so the "instability" issue is well, not an issue.

For those of you who thought I was insane for not complaining about the location of my split brakes on the same side of the cab as the HST pedal AND for my not using split brakes (rarely needed by me) here is the real deal:

I finally got into super slippery mud with an incline to it and restricted space and had to use the split brakes to maneuver appropriately. I had no difficulty operating the HST with my right foot and the split brakes with my left (even though the pedals are on the right side too.) The split brakes were very handy and made an otherwise impossible job into a doable job. I may never need them again or I might need them tomorrow but they just aren't all that hard to operate on the same side as some thought might have been the case. Of course I can walk and chew gum at the same time without tripping or bighting my tongue so I guess I am a special case. ;) ;)

Thats easy for you fellows with a flat deck to do but when you have a center hump and old hardened, stiff muscles working short legs it becomes a matter of impossibility!:thumbsup:

I have a bit of a center hump and have to get my BIG FOOT (13-14)past the pedestal with the steering wheel shoved forward to get enough clearance but I manage.

What, no comment on the chewing gum and walking at the same time? ;)
