OK brain-trust. What exact combination of appendages does one employ to drive forward and apply the right-rear (or left-rear) brake? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

TC-33DA, HYDRO, 14LA-FEL, Backhoe on order.....

While keeping my foot on whichever side of the brake I want to use, so far I have tried (1) closing my eyes and wishing real hard, (2) wiggling my nose like Samantha, and (3) blinking like Jeanie, to push the hydro pedal. Nothing has worked yet, so I'm open for suggestions.

This, of course, only applies to those tractors that have both brake pedals and the hydro pedal onthe same side, like my TC18.

With the brakes and the hydro pedal being on the same side, the only way I can see that this is possibile is in combination with the cruise control. I've never tried this, never having a need to use independant wheel braking.

This has come up before -- when one steps on one of the brakes (I forget which), the cruise control goes off. So, you can turn one way, but not the other.

I, too, have never had any occasion when it even occurred to me that it might be something I'd want to do. It turns so sharply and quickly that I'm usually turned where I want to go before I even think about the brake to help it turn. I suppose they keep it there because it's traditional, and easier than designing somethig else. The gear tractors might get some use out of it, as might the 2WD versions.

I also gave this some serious thought before I purchased.
By getting the 35D the problem went away. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If it makes you guys feel any better my brakes are on the left and my hydro pedals are on the right but I have never had an instance where I felt that I needed to use the brakes independently. Maybe having the SuperSteer is the difference for my application I don't know.

I have tried to use them, but to no avail. When plowing snow for instance, the front gets really light and it would be great to have my drive is slightly off camber so off I go. The only way I can think to do this is:

Left hand Drive.
Right foot Go pedal.
Right hand use long stick to push brake. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah - you guys pretty well summed it up. I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something. Thankfully this is a family-friendly discussion or else I'm sure I would have had to wear my hip-waders!

Cheers!

I don't have a hydro tranny in either of my tractors, they are both HSS. However I use the brakes for turning many times, either at the end of rows or more likely when I am attempting to plow snow when the front end starts to slide, I do most of my steering with brakes. A hydro would have exactly the same problem and also require steering with the brakes.

You might try moving both feet to the right side of the steering wheel, using one foot for the Hydro and the other for the brake. A little awkward maybe but it should work. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I thought about how to do it, but have never needed to try it.
