Hydrostatic Tractor, Loader, Backhoe Options

I knew this query would go off track. While I appreciate the motives I don't want or need advice on my situation. I want to know if there are other options on a mid size TLB and any pros or cons on those brands/models.

Wow. In that case I think you should use a shovel LOL.

Folks are offering good advice to help you get the job done effectively, while trying to hold to your cost restraints.

Exactly what advice are you wanting then? Go buy your TLB and we don't want to here you complain when it is way too small for the job at hand.

Just had the 5 acres clear cut so I'm guestamating 900 to 1000 stumps. I have 3 years before having to have something planted to keep the ag rating.

Jd855guy,

I'm curious if you had the land timbered for a reason . . Where you got paid for 900 to 1000 trees?

I ask because I was thinking if many of the trees were smaller . . You could have had them pushed over and then log cut or firewood cut.

Recently I had some trees pushed over with a large track drive skidsteer. Sure makes it a lot easier with the root ball out of ground.

I think the cheapest TLB's under $20k are the Kubota BX25D-1, JD 1025R, and MF GC1720 if you plan to get new probably can do stumps under 12" with some time, experience, and ripper tooth. Most of the time that backhoe is $7-8k premium minimum. So if you want larger used might be the way to go something like Kubota B26 TLB with a few hundred hours. You got to pay to play unfortunately big toys are expensive. I also priced out a loaded Kubota 2601 TLB from Barlow's for about $26k new with 0%. All the larger TLB's in CUT form will be in $30k range for something not beat to ****.

If you were unimpressed with a 7000 Lb excavator, you need at least JD110, L39, L48, L45, M59.

Or get a small farm tractor and a used beat Full size TLB, hope the TLB does not break, and sell it when your done with it for more than you paid for it. (Win)

(Or it breaks down and your really ____ed)

Renting a 30K excavator is on my list of options. Cost for that is about $2000 per week or a little more with delivery and rental protection.

Not such a bad idea but I hope you have vacation time, & plan on living/sleeping in the excavator that week. Check weather report before renting.

The excavator he rented was stronger than a JD110 or L45.

You have a lot of stump grubbing, even for a compact TLB like the 110. Aside from hiring it done or renting some large equipment and doing it yourself, another option that hasn't been mentioned is buying a used full

I beat the heck out of my L39 before I bought my excavator. I don't use the excavator much anymore, but it is still real handy. Clearing 1/2 acre with a L39 is a lot. Forget doing five, that is being mean to the TLB. I would not want to do much more than an Acre with my 8 ton excavator. But such a TLB is necessary and invaluable for the clean-up, after you rent a large excavator. A 20 ton machine can pull most trees in soft ground like weeds. Digging out root balls is tedious. The commercial built JD110, L39, l45 & M59 TLB beat a Ag. tractor by a bunch for this kind of work, but the are not the best Ag tractors.

Don't know of any other tlbs' being available larger than the M59 at 59 hp. You might find an ag tractor that is larger with a hoe on the rear but doubt the hoe will be larger than the 12' hoe on the M59. Deere used to make the 210 with a hoe available but I think that was many many years ago and doubt it would measure up to the 110 or L45 offerings today.

The combination of the three, tractor loader and backhoe seems to be limited to large compacts. You can get the larger tractors or larger loaders or loader backhoes or larger excavators but not the combination of the three.

If anyone knows of a larger dedicated tlb with removable hoe and three point hitch I would like to be corrected. I would particularly like to know of any of these large tlb's that are within the $20,000 budget. Might buy it myself.
