A dealer has more connection to the manufacturer than we do. Those slick #$#$ reps are always bullying the dealers to sell more stuff. Tell them, to throw out the computers and we will.
Firstly, you could get rid of any other non-emmisions computers in a machine. That's a given. Then make the polution control stuff, simple descreet (repairable) logic. And let that emmisions stuff be part of the engine package, handled by the engine manufacturer and nothing to do with the equipment manufacturer.
It's like so many other things. A washing machine doesn't need a computer. But the sucker consumer has bought into that. AND will pay the price, and I am not talking about the purchase price.
Computers are here to stay, and will be a part of our lives in almost every way. You can't beat em.
I have a Kubota SVL-95. It's new, so I really can't comment too much about it. I think Deere and Cat have nicer cabs, but I liked the roominess of the Kubota cab better.
The Kubota has the best door. The swing out ones suck.
I will be using it mainly to work in forest area and on steep-ish slopes. But I will be using it to spread at least 10-20 loads of #2 chert to fix up the private maintain road i live on.
Renting or demoing a few machines is definitely a good idea, but I disagree with you about an articulating loader because of the steep terrain that he mentionedIs there any reason not to rent one or two different kinds before plunking down to buy one? IMO, CTL痴 (or even wheeled SS) are not the end-all, do-all answer for everything. For the descriptions you致e given, I would be tempted to use a wheel loader like the kubota R520 or Avanti( these are cool with the the telescopic forks and quick change 3rd function)
