Oh Jay so sorry to hear about your loss. Unfortunately these things happen in life and no matter what comes to mind it happens so don't tear yourself up over it.
You look after yourself.

I frequently worry about my dogs when I move the Kubota or put other vehicles. I have often laughed at my wife whom will often park at the entrance of our driveway if I'm out with the dogs for her fear of running over one. Only after watching my wife's ****zu take a short cut crossing my driveway by running underneath my parked but running truck did I realize how clueless this sweet little dog was and how right my wife was to walk in from the street if the dogs were out !!!! We love our animals and feel sick over your loss. I might start parking up by the road myself when I come home if the dogs are out !!!!!

Jay, allow me to offer my heartfelt condolences also. You story reminded me of my little puppy "Beaver" who I lost when I was about 10; he got trapped in a car rut in deep snow and the step-uncle backed over him. You are not deserving of any guilt you feel. It was an accident and I'm sure you were 100% sure your furry kid was out of harms way.

In 1984 I had an argument with the now X-wife. I had a CJ-7 and Beethoven our 13 year old beagle must have been sleeping under the jeep. Anyway, I stomped outside, started the Jeep to just go clear my head and took off....yep ran over him. Rushed him to the vet who said his hips were crushed and the sensible thing to do was to put him down due to his age. Sensible, yes, but dang that was tough and it still bothers me whenever I think about it...what a stupid thing for me to do all over nothing. He was the coolest and only Beagle that ever owned me:). We rabbit and squirrel hunted and he was always up for a ride anywhere...didn't matter where. He had that "I'm the coolest Beagle ever to walk the planet" attitude...very regal, a class act all the way. I could never bring myself to let another Beagle adopt me as I know they would all have to have a very high standard. It sucks, it hurts and you never really get over it, but I smile whenever his name is mentioned or something reminds me of him. Hang in there bro...time heals....kinda:cool:
