I just upgraded tractors from a B7100 16hp (Gear, with Front and rear PTO) to a B2920. Was forced to upgrade because I had simply wore out the mowing deck, and had a itch for FEL and more HP. The B7100 has a front snow blower that operates via front PTO and never failed me with chains on my turf tires. We don't get the snow we used to, and yes it was a chore when snow was wet or very crusty, and it might have taken awhile to get through a 4' drift. Yes low gear is slow...but the corret speed in certain condidtions. I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'm going to keep the rig just for smow removal.
