lol walking onto my property in the wee hours of the morning, going through my car and taking things to LEO kicking in your doors

These kinds of threads go this way, oh well, it's interesting anyway..

Something that should be noted with the recent discussion is about 911 calls...if an emergency dispatcher gets a call from or associated with an address...all bets are off on how far the LEOs can go...in most states they have the right to force entry and search the premises...especially if they are not able to maintain a connection with the caller...

several things can cause bogus 911 calls not excluding prank or harassment calls

I've mentioned this before... back before wi-fi I accidently called while trying to set up my computer with dialup from a motel room. "9" to get out, "1" for long distance... forgetting that the 'puter was already set up to dial the 1.

In my opinion law enforcement ha become too militarized. It's too big a system, with promotions and such, that can not be in the best interest of joe blow citizen. I just think, it's important to understand how things operate and what your rights are.

I had a phone line short out in the box on the side of the house. The side effect from it triggered a 911 hang up call. Not sure how it happened. Phone guy was as clueless as I was. That was actually the second time. The first time it called my cellphone and there was nothing but static on the line.

Anyway, a couple cops showed up to the house. I invited them in and they explained they had the hang up call to 911. I informed them that it was just me and the animals at the house. My roommate was teaching a class that night.

Then my brain finally caught up with the situation. And I told the cops to go ahead and check the house, closets, ect..... Where ever they felt like looking. One cop stayed with me shooting the bull, while the other poked through the house for a few minutes. I suggested he check the garage as well, and if he was up to it, I then pointed to the back door and the two attic access points.

See, my thought once my brain caught up with the surprise of having the cops arrive. Was that they had a 911 hang up call. For all they knew, I could have been a creeper and had someone hog tied in the closet. Both my roommate and I were law abiding professionals with nothing to hide. So if they wanted to take a peak at my dirty clothes, more power to them :D

How did this work out for either party?
Trial Opens for Former Officer Who Killed Unarmed Black Man in His Apartment - The New York Times

I do agree with kenmac on this, however.

This is one of the reasons some police officers scare me more than criminals. Maybe if your not bright enough to know where, on what floor, the color of your door mat, the placement and style of your furniture or most importantly the protocol demanded of your job as a police officer. Then maybe you should hand back that badge and gun.

I apologize. I didn't realize that EVER homeowner in the US is going to have a highly trained (with good money of course) german shepard barking behind their door.

Not everyone has one but it sure is nice for those of us who do. Many don稚 realize the differences in people痴 locations or environments. Out here there are no street lights, many of the side roads are private roads, most homes have long driveways that make it known it痴 private property and strangers should keep out. The dogs will react to anything that shouldn稚 be within a certain distance and this includes a police car that doesn稚 belong.
My dog will tell me with the tone of his bark how far off, which side they are coming from and if they get out of the car he will become increasingly aggressive as they approach the door. If they are on property and they don稚 approach the door he will show me where they are outside by going to the outside wall of the house they are on. It痴 very amazing how they can be such a good watch and protection dog and still be a wonderful family pet.

One of these days some judge will rule that using a camera or webcam will be ruled as 'entrapment' and perps will go free.

I hope any judge that makes such a ruling has his/her house broken into, burglarized and they are held at gunpoint the very next day. Just my 2 pennies.

My only point is LEO's probably end up shooting more innocent dogs than people. Some human being loses a life, lawyers may get involved. Someone loses a dog, no one will really care.

Who said anything about a highly trained dog? Yes my dog is trained and yes I spent money in doing so, you take in strays and think you know how to train them but in reality you don't know much, you have proven that several times but you like to cause trouble, you take other conversations from years back and bring up things to cause trouble, that you are good at..

Maybe you have warrants and you worry every time someone bangs on you're door, I don't..

Dude, chill.

For the record, I don't believe the police have EVER knocked on my door;)

Please read post 209, THAT is my point.
