Started our mini-barn project last night. No where near the scale of Henro or Spencer but it will be a nice place to tuck away the lawn tractor, gardening tools and kids toys. Big barn for the "big" tractor, camper and such is still a couple of years away.

Last night I scraped away the vegetation and some topsoil. Today I had some crushed concrete delivered and leveled it into a pad for the barn to rest on. It will be conventional stick framing with a wood floor. Hope to have it all framed in by the end of the weekend.

Here's my solution to the dump trailer situation...

And here's my trusty little 790 next to 10 yards of crushed concrete. I was a bit intimidated at first but the stuff is really loose and works easily with the bucket or box /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And the final installment for today... My 9 year old helper standing next to what's left of the pile. I leveled a pad about 8" thick for the barn and some extra space behind it for implement storage. I knew I'd have extra crush and that's just fine. Most of the cost is in the delivery so I got all they could carry. The leftovers will get used for driveway repairs, ramp up to the barn floor and various other things.

Tomorrow night I rent a plate compactor to make this really solid. Lumber arrives Friday so I'm all set for the weekend /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks too much like work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope all goes well, I'll be doing the same thing on a larger scale soon for my tree farm. I'm hoping I can put it off till the fall, for the cooler temps.. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

RobS,

That's pretty funny...Ha, Ha, Ha big time here!

Almost got the large side of the roof with the 8 skylights on...this hot sunny weather is killing me!

Keep those picks coming. Always fun and interesting to see what others are doing. What size is the mini barn you're building?

Don't push yourselt too hard to get things done...

Enjoy the project!

Thanks for the chuckles Bill. Like I said, my mini-barn is nowhere near the size of yours. It will be 12 X 16 with 8 foot walls and an 8/12 pitch roof. Going for an old-timey look to fit the house.

My wife pulled in last night and I'm out there spreading rock and she just shakes her head. I explained that this is actually stress relief for me and she somewhat understood. Probably by about mid-day Saturday I'll be thoroughly destressed and into full scale enjoyment of the project /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well, the framing has begun. Not much time for pictures plus the batteries were going down. I've got all three helpers here, two boys and one tractor /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Walls framed, started the roof. Setting the ridge beam was a challenge, particularly as no one else was home at that time. I figured a way to do it and kept the progress going /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And my final installment for this weekend. Ended up about where I thought I would. Nearly all the framing is done. Just need to trim off the roof sheathing and add the flyrafters. Shingling is next but that will have to wait a week or two /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
