Yep, backhoe was the best toy...err...tool... I ever bought! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Along with the tractor, toothbar, loader...whoops, better change that to "one of the best tools..." /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Finally getting things closed up for the coming winter now.

Decided to close in the loft area totally with plywood. This will make it more secure and give me a lockable area to store things that I feel should be behind a locked door...

The four skylights in the closed in area provide more than ample daylight...

Seemed like putting some shelves where that plastic went would be a good idea. The shelves also provided support for the plastic in the middle as the vertical span was about five feet.

Turned out pretty good...still have to make a door for that opening...will be a pretty simple one...but good enough to keep the snow out. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

South wall from the outside...I'm satisfied with the way it turned out.

I had to use a piece of siding that was not weathered above the door...had it leftover from the original construction of the little shed...guess it will match in time...not worried about that anyway...

Finally a place where the entire lenght of my ladders can be under roof and out of the way to boot!

I am going to do something temporary this winter to cover the door openings. I'll worry about real doors next year. I have pretty much settled on roll up doors. Unless I decide that I don't really need doors at all...we'll see how this winter goes I guess... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Spencer,

I fear outside working is where we both should be right now!

Hope your weather is not as nice as ours is! You may have an excuse... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For temporary doors, just make some folding doors out of plywood, or something cheaper now that the price is climbing.

Slamfire,

That is just about where my head is at the moment...and I am pretty sure that is what I will do.

Actually, I am now questioning my need for doors of the proper kind. I will know more about that after this winter. The only reason I want to cover the openings is to keep the snow from blowing in. Rain is not an issue. Locking the area is also not an issue...

I am thinking doing exactly what you suggest...that plywood is pretty high for sure. Maybe the 1/2 inch pressure treated is still near its old price...will have to take a look...
