My neighbor claims that he has his horses trained not to defecate while being ridden in a horse show or in their horse ring on their property. Ok, let the stories begin. I ROLMAO when I was told this. I believe that if you don't feed them it might work. I have never heard of such a laughable thing in my life.

Quite possible.

When working with ours, I have never seen them stop and dump. The more your working them and around them, they seem to be on a regular schedule.

Thanks Jim. I knew I was on dangerous ground there, but I've followed your previous thread and was wondering if it was something like that. Your neighbor is a guy who will say just about anything and expect others to belive it just because it came out of his mouth. I know where the real poop is here, and it's not the horses. LOL

Generally most horses do not poop during shows. They are sort of taught that by keeping them focused on what ever it is they are supposed to be doing, and by not letting them stop. Also, the excitment level is high just from being there so most of them will poop before they get to the show ring. Never had much luck with that in the training ring.

I've seen a couple things on TV about people keeping pet horses (both full size and mini) in houses. I assume they must be trained somehow like a dog to go outside. Wouldn't have any idea how to go about it.

If this guy has trained them to behave like that, he might want to make an infomercial about it, might make millions...

I personally don't believe it.... Especially in their own paddock at home. I suppose they ask for permission to go to, right?

Our horses taught themselves to take leaks before they get on the horse trailer. But otherwise, my experience is a horse will go when it has to go.

You are so correct. I think the real answer is the horses are starved or too ecited to poop during a show while being ridden as mentioned here. Otherwise I think it is just a load of horse poop whenever the horse wants to poop.

I trained mine to unload as soon as they get in the trailer. That way I can leave it at the show. Now if I can only teach them not do it on the return trip.....

Our standardbred horses poop whenever/where-ever they want.

Even during a race!

Of course, they haven't been trained on when/where to go. So maybe I should talk to the trainer.....

Have a good one,
Neil.
