I had ENOUGH of higher diesel prices!!

I have not seen any savings using bio-diesel. I've been using B2 and get the same mileage as regular diesel and the B2 is not any cheaper, sometimes higher. I tried B5 and got worse mileage. But, I still use the B2 because I can get some here in Indiana that is 100% American. I have been buying gas at Country Mark (Energy Plus) off and on the whole time we've lived here, but recently found out it's 100% American, so now I buy all my gas/diesel at Country Mark. Check out

and it says the crude oil is all local and the refinery is in Indiana.

Personally I hope all the oil in the world goes away. Then we can just get back to riding horses, having local mfg. and business and go back to a much simpler way of life. At times I don't think the Amish really have it wrong. When the rest of us are trying to scramble to adapt to a new way of life they will just keep going on like nothing happened. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Noticed 3 stations this morning that sell diesel. At all 3, diesel was 10 cents cheaper than regular. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif However, the cheapest was still $2.45. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Cowboy Doc I agree, it would be nice if we could go back to a localized way of life, it seems today we are all dependant on everything being brought to us from another area.. fuel prices not only effect us at the pump but also will increase the costs of goods that we use..the domino effect.. Down here in southern Florida traffic is at a stand still every day on I-95 with nowhere to go but wait /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Speaking of high fuel costs my last boat was to big to trailer so it sat at a dock..1 month ago gas at the marina was $3.50 and at 288 gallons and 1 mile per gallon economy it got expensive, yes that is correct 1 mile to the gallon at 3/4 throttle .. I noticed saturday that there were a lot less boats out on the water than usual for a hot weekend day. Everyone is taking a big hit on these high prices. I was at the Cape a few weeks ago. I saw gas at a marina for $2.189. That price was cheaper than at the local gas stations.

Gas was 2.75 and diesel was 2.69 when I got off work last night at 11 pm

I amy be an oddball, but I see the nuclear reactor coming back to make power. We already have power lines so a central reactor would replace how many oil/gas burning power plants? Heat with electric, drive with electric cars or use the power to make hydrogen for cars, etc. How much of the refined fuel of our nation do you suppose is used in transportation? A small part I'd imagine. As supply goes up, cost should come down if this free market thing really works.

I did some work at a naval shipyard where we were scrapping 30 year old submarines and ships. These were all nuclear powered, not diesel. Don't be afraid of nuclear power, it is already here but being used in ways other than domestic electricity. Just a matter of time I think.

My 98 chevy half ton will consistently break 20 mpg on cruises but sits at 16 around town. Pretty good in my book.

I had a 97 half ton Chevy and still have a '98 half ton Dodge. The Chevy (5.7) got about 16.5 at 60mph, 15 at 72mph, and about 11 in town. The Dodge I still have (5.9) does about exactly the same. The only way they would break 20mpg is if they were on a trailer. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I have to assume that yours is not a 4X4. I always buy 4X4's.

Now that I think about it, my '96 1 ton dually 4X4 Dodge gets about the same mileage, maybe a little better. But, it is a pumped up Cummins. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
