Here's a site that I've gone to for awhile that offers several good links that will provide you more links and more links after that.... :D

Sales Barn - MachineryLink

You know --- it's the INTERNET; after all.. and you can find yourself following rabbit tunnels all over the globe!! :)

IMO. I find the sites like tractor house, machineyrlink, machinerytrader, equipmentlocator, etc, etc. to be a total waste of space. The pricing is not usually reflective of what things actually bring. Its a dealers wish list.

Of course it is.... but if you need a "starting point"... well, the first step in any endeavor is of course the "starting point"!! ;)

Here in Alaska -- I don't have enough hours in my day to call around dealerships in the country inquiring whether or not they have a particular machine sitting on the lot -- even if they've got "800" numbers...

Actually, they seem okay for me, before i purchased my unit, I looked up on Tractorhouse and saw what was available on the used market locally and was able to use that in helping me bargain.

Agree, those quotes and the access to them can save a great deal of time

Today I am off to another Deere Dealer -- this one is in a more rural area. I spoke to a fellow there on the phone and I like the way he came across.

Per your advice, I am going to be looking at the 5325 model and have set my sights on walking out the door (with FEL etc) for 39,000.00

My hat's off to you folks!

I'll be getting a more appropriate tractor for my needs and save a boatload of cash!

I have a much smaller need than you do....but that said.....I think you should shop around for the right tractor size first...without regard to price. Once you hone in on the size tractor and equipment you want and need....then you can start to figure prices.

You can get the "round about" prices from tractor house...and then negotiate with two or three dealers for the right deal. From my standpoint, I would get the tractor, cab, and loader package at one price....and maybe an implement package as another price, or seperately....unless money is no object.

Thinking of buying the 4720 now...

I was going to get a new 5105M--but was told i didn't need such a big tractor. I have 100 acres; 25 cleared pastures that are relatively flat and the rest is wooded (some pretty good slopes and was timbered 5 years ago) and i wanted something to partially clear some of the rolling hills. Won't be tilling or really pulling much of anything besides a bush hog or finish mower. Plan to get a tine grapple for brush, heavy duty 4-1 bucket, box blade and a back hoe.

No cab because i want to take into the woods...also, not farming for a living and won't have to be out on it everyday. Dealer wants about 24,000 for the tractor and with all the attachments about 43,000.00

Looked at the Kubota and M series and liked it--couldn't fit in the lower L series compact models--I'm kinda tall with long legs.

Think the 4720 will be enough tractor? Should I pass on the cab--or will I hate myself for it?

Thanks for your support and advice!
