I have issues paying $12 for headlamp bulb

Well now, let's be fair here... a Touareg HID (Bi-Xenon) bulb from the dealer might be $280 Cdn. But the same OE Sylvania replacements are also available for less than half that on the aftermarket.

Non-HID VW's pretty much use the same typical bulbs as everyone else, with a few "european type" bulbs here & there. ;)

I have to tell ya, any more than $10 for a bulb and I'm wishing I'd kept the '72 Dodge..;)

Just out of curosity, what does your dealer charge for his shop labor? Ken Sweet

Don't know, haven't had to take it in yet, I am afraid to. I always thought that car dealers put it to you but they have nothing on tractor dealers.

$12 for a H/L bulb is not that bad, (not that far out of line, compared to an ordinary H/L bulb on a car).

I take it you have not yet seen what the expensive parts cost, on one of these tractors.

$12 bulbs, $12 oil filters, $40 hydraulic filters, will all seem like a bargain, if you ever end up going down that road.

I took the headlight bulb out of my B21 to a New Holland Tractor / 4 wheeler / motorcycle dealer. They sold me a pair of motorcycle bulbs for a few dollars each that fit and work fine.

For me a dealer is the last stop for typical everyday hardware, not only is it further to drive, its also more expensive 9 times out of 10. Look around online and have it delivered, chances are it will still be cheaper, ****....buy two for that matter!

Both headlight bulbs are missing from the B7100 I bought several weeks ago. As the days get shorter, I'd like to have the lights. But I don't have the old ones to compare. Can anyone advise on a Walmart replacement? Or do I need to by one from the dealer to match up? I wonder if I could return it if I didn't put it in...probably only get away with that one time!

The headlamp bulb for B1750 is a quirky little thing that it would appear Kubota has a monopoly on and want to charge $12 each. Anybody know where these can be purchased at a reasonable price?
Thanks...I love this site! :)

Almost all newer Kubota B series tractors use an 800 series halogen automotive fog lamp bulb (~35 watts) that has a bayonet base (twist-in). Other Kubota tractors actually use automotive turn signal bulbs (~25 watts). However, the B1750 might use a different bulb since that model is a little older. Look at the base of the factory bulb and give me the numbers off it and I'll tell you where to get a cheaper one if it is available elsewhere.

FYI... Most tractor manufacturers use automotive bulbs for most of their models nowadays since automotive bulbs are more reliable than ever, very easy to get and are standardized (meaning the federal government controls what bulbs can be used on US highways, thus allowing all bulb manufacturers to produce all bulb types that each must meet federally-specified performance criteria. This ensures safe and consistent operation of your car on the road regardless of which bulb brand you buy to replace a burned-out original). As-such, every automotive bulb used in a tractor application should also be available at your local auto parts store (or even at many grocery stores with automotive sections). Pricing for bulbs varies greatly depending on bulb type, but all should be VASTLY less at an auto parts store vs. what your tractor dealer charges for them. Functionally, there is NO difference between bulb brands -all bulbs of the same designation are interchangeable regardless of who makes them. Remember, dealers make A LOT of their income from part sales because you're captive to their supply stream for those parts unique to your tractor brand/model. This is not true with things like bulbs.

How about $300 for a thermostat for a Newer model Ford CHA Tractor. Just heard about that last night. Dealer sent a service man out and 3 hrs. later he had it in. Total bill, parts and labor $900. Kicker is that it did not fix the problem. Ken Sweet

Thats gota suck!

The bulbs on several older Kubota models are Y-base (3 slotted holes on the flange) . This page may be a place to start. My L345 uses the 6235 and my L5450 uses the 6245. I think the last ones I bought were under $3 each. BTW Kubota has no interest in designing its own headlight bulbs - they buy them like everybody else. Y-base bulbs are also found on snowmobiles, ATV's etc from Asia.
