I have issues paying $12 for headlamp bulb

My entire bulb sockets are missing in my B7100 so I'm going to wire in replacement sockets.

How do you guys like the visibility of your headlights?
Do you know the wattage, I saw 25W and 35W mentioned.

I want to make sure that the end result is usable. I rarely do anything with it at night but I don't want to waste my time if I don't end up liking them. Those little bulbs scare me...look like they won't light up much, but I've never had working lights so I wouldn't know.

Did a little research on the web and found that my L3710 appears to use old motorcycle/snowmobile type of bulbs. The best that I could find was that the
eiko a-3603 48008 which uses the t6 bulb and PX15D base/flange is the correct bulb for my tractor. The bulb had 12v/25w stamped in the base and the pictures I have seen look the same as my bulb.

This is the best price that I have seen for these bulbs ($.69). I can get 6 bulbs shipped for close to $12.

Here is the link to the site that sells them for that price.

I have the same problem as Gary, above, with my B7100, the sockets are gone. I was at the local Kubota dealer yesterday and they looked up the numbers for me:

66591-55630 for the bulb ($8.28 at the dealer, $6.90 online)
66711-54130 for the socket ($15.30 at the dealer, 12.75 online)

I still haven't decided what to do, but I wanted to post the information here. I'm interested in LED's but the low cost options don't seem to put out much light from what I've heard and the brighter ones are more expensive than just replacing the OEM lights.

the problem with LED's is they don't put out any heat to keep the snow and frost off them while plowing snow

I heard that about LED stoplights also.

Given how lousy those B7100 stock headlights are anyway, I'd just mount some aftermarket lights to the ROPS. The headlights on my B7100 work, but I never use them, just the ROPS lights.

If you want to add floodlights and do any amount of work at all at night, an HID conversion kit is the way to go. Here's a link to my HID conversion project. The grill-mounted headlight bulbs that the HID floods are compared against are 45w/45w. Dirt cheap light. You can get a kit that does two floods for under $50 easily.

This light from Sloan takes a 9005 HID headlight bulb easily (no housing mods required like my factory cabcorner lights did). I added two of these to my loader after I posted about my first conversion.

p.s. On topic with this post, I think dealers are overcharging for headlight bulbs as well. I got charged almost $20 for a single headlight bulb for my M9000. Looked online and found a place that sold lots of TEN for something like $10.40 plus shipping. I got ten for the price of one bulb.

For $12 a bulb, maybe you should just check into an LED replacement.
They can be pricey, but they should last allot longer.
And in my B7800 the LED replacments were brighter than the stock headlight bulbs.
LEDs draw less current too.
What size/number bulb did you use in your B7800?

I discovered something yesterday. The headlight bulb sockets in my old Murray lawnmower will fit in the headlights of my B7100. The sockets were gone altogether in my tractor when I got it and I was looking at nearly $50 to replace sockets and bulbs in both headlights. The Murray sockets (Murray part number 92372) can be had for about $5 each, and the Murray bulbs (90084) are about $10 each but are apparently just 1156 automotive single-filament turn signal bulbs which can be had at WalMart for a couple bucks. I plan to pull the sockets from the old Murray (never used them anyway) and install them in the B7100. I'll need to wire them up and rig a switch (the old switch seems to be toast) but when I get it working I'll let you all know how it goes. By the way, once you have these 1156 sockets installed there are other bulb options including 50 watt halogen and LED in various sizes.
