Mark,
I am near you (closer to Purcellville). I assume its the shop in Luckets. I have tried to work with them with little results. I bought a used CK30 not long ago and need to transfer the warrantee etc and they were not helpful. THey told me call Kioti, Kioti tells me go to my local dealer etc.

If you hear anything on the status of the shop let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

Yep, that would be the one. I live about a 1/2 mile down the road from them. I am on my way over there now to see if I can figure out what is what. I'll keep you posted.

Oh this just gets better and better. Just called the dealership . . . .

"The Tractor Shop is under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy . . . ."

I had to call their attorny who is on vacation until tomorrow. As things stand now, the best I can hope for is that my wheel/tire is laying around their shop somewhere and someone can meet me up there so I can exchange the incorrect out for mine. Me and dealerships, never really had the best of luck with them. :(
What a tale of the wheel of misfortune!

I said Chapter 11, I meant Chapter 7 . . .

Anyway, the place is locked up tighter than Fort Knox. There is a sign on the door that reads something to the effect of:

"The shop has filed for Chapter 7 blah blah blah. It is a criminal act to remove any equipment from the property. Your equipment is still your eqiupment. However, please contact the trustee to arrange for you to retrieve you equipment . . ."

So again if the wheel/tire is not there all I can do is ask the trustee to try and locate it for me. Who knows how much effort she will put into that. I know the owner (former) lives down the street from me but I assume at this point the bank owns everything now anyway.

Oh the story of my life . . .

Contact the owner. He may be able to find out who has the other mismatched wheels. I'm sure he has a lot on his mind but if you ask nicely he may be able to put you in touch with the right people. If it is not at the dealership the trustee probably won't be much help.

Well I know where he lives but I don't have his number. I can't say that under the circumstance I'd feel very comfortable showing up at his front door. I like the idea but I just don't fee right about just going to his house unannounced.

Mark,

Holy cow....no wonder he's getting his tires mixed up. Look up his number on Free411.com. It would be unlikely that he'd be mad about you trying to retrieve your rightful tire. Iffen it's in the shop, then it's easy enough for either the owner or the lawyer to handle. If it's on another bloke's unit, than the lawyer won't be of much help. In the latter case, one would hope that "Uneven Steven" approaches the situation accordingly.

I sympathize with situation, if that helps any. My golf pro went out of business. I could have been a star......

I thought about that too. Another thing is I sometimes go past his place when I go to the coop and I see people out in the yard so maybe I will stop then. I guess I need to talk to Rick to see if running it with the incorrect tire will cause additional damage, in the event the trustee can't help me. I just hoping the tire is in the shop vs. on someone elses tractor. The shop has a DKs so maybe he had additional rims on had for their tractor that they got mixed up with. That's if the tire/rim is off a DK45s and not a DK55/65.

Unlike trucks and cars, tractors do not have a transfer case. That means that the front and rear tires are connected mechanically, when engaged in 4WD. If you engage the 4WD with the incorrect back to front ratio, you are going to break stuff. That's my technical explanation.

I very seriously doubt any damage was done. The JD 5003 tractors come with 3 different size rear tire options with no change to the fronts. My dealer was pretty adamant about there not being any gear ratio changes to accomodate the different tire sizes. The point is that tractors are much more tolerant of small ratio mismatches than 4wd on-road vehicles.

Plus, since only one of the front tires was mismatched, the overall front to back ratio error is only 50% of what it would be with both fronts mismatched. I suspect that percentage wise the overall front to back mismatch is relatively small.

That, combined with the fact that Mark said he didn't run on hard surface in 4wd much, I think everything is fine.

I would be a little more concerned if the Kaboot had a limited slip differential in the front. In this case, the LSD clutch packs would probably be roached.

Good luck finding the right left tire.
